Does Critch have favourites?

favourites for me isn't the right choice of word. He'll rate some players better than others of course he will but that isn't favouritism, it's just his professional judgement.
 
I'd imagine that's why Maxwell got called up ahead of Grimshaw because of the relationship a Manager and Captain have - doesn't mean they always get it right!
 
I think he has players in the squad,mostly the experienced ones that he feels he can trust. I know hes said before he trusts Kevin Stewart and obviously feels comfortable when hes on the pitch. Id say the same for James Husband another he probably feels he can trust if he is picking him ahead of specialist centre backs.Marv is probably a favourite of his for different reasons in that Critch is probably enjoying the development of him more than any other squad member and hes just first name on the teamsheet for all of us I wouldve thought.
 
I think at times Critch is trying to keep all the players happy and develop the squad rather than always picking the strongest team available.

The two players that are confusing me are Mitchell, he seems to offer very little on the right side, and his only success has come on the left.
He is neat on the ball, but I do not understand when we have Bowler and CJ why he starts.
Also why Gretterson has not been picked in recent weeks when in my view he is a much better centre half than Husband in the air, and we have leaked goals with the lack of height in the team. He is also the best passer we have at centre-half, and reasonably quick.

(Bang on target there)Max was a classic example, very good stopper but what did Grimshaw do wrong ? play your best team even in cup matches end of.

100% Agree - I bet Grimshaw was having a good chuckle inside on Saturday watching those goals fly in? Wonder if he'll be back on Saturday?
