Not played a game of football in 427 days. Just read a piece on him where he says ‘I’m sat here, twiddling my thumbs. I’m buzzing to get involved again.’

Worth a punt on a one year deal? When fit he’d be a class above this league. I know we’ve Norburn, Kenny and Trybull but if Trybull turns out to be injury prone it does leave us fairly short, I don’t like Connolly in there he’s not good enough. Drinkwater’s hardly in a position he can be picky and being a northern lad, it may be worth testing the water.

We had this last season. Clearly he’s still greedy enough to put teams off?
If he’d genuinely wanted to play football to showcase his talent for 3 months he’d have signed anywhere in Jan local enough to where he lives.

Even if that was Div 1 in Jan, that would have been enough for a championship team to offer him a free transfer deal this summer

Maybe his personal life says more about him than what he’s done on the pitch …

In April 2019, Drinkwater was charged with drink-driving after crashing his Range Rover into a wall in Mere, Cheshire. There were two other passengers in the car at the time of the accident, who were treated for minor injuries. Drinkwater appeared at Stockport Magistrates' Court on 13 May, where he pleaded guilty to drink-driving and received a 20-month driving ban.[56]

In September 2019, Drinkwater was attacked outside a Manchester nightclub, allegedly following a dispute with fellow footballer Kgosi Ntlhe, which resulted in ankle ligament damage.

Only a 22 man squad this season waste of a space when we've plenty of cover and Connolly CAN play there especially in Lge 1.
Callum was moved around that much last season I'm surprised he new if he was coming and going he's a good footballer.

No thanks. He's the 'Chesney Hawkes ' of football. That's probably an insult to Chesney as well who I'm sure had a better attitude.

Bollocks.

He could have played all last season.

All talk. Has-been.

Apparently Jamie Vardy has turned down a very lucrative offer from a Saudi Arabian club. Should we make a move before someone else does?

Connolly is a good defender and I think he’d be brilliant as one of the centre backs in a 3. But he can’t play central midfield, he has no composure on the ball and he’s constantly out of position. I like Connolly and think he’s a useful player but he’s not a central midfielder.

In the weird and wonderful world of the EFL the Championship has a 25 man squad which includes goalkeepers (nearly always 3). League 1 is 22 man squad but excludes goalkeepers. No difference.

No thanks. Supporters of clubs he’s played for have mentioned a bad attitude. Let him twiddle his thumbs.

Actually, Chesney is a nice lad, or certainly was years ago, went to school with my sons and lived just down the old from us.

Pay if you play deal for someone like him. Maybe offer a 1 year if he does ok for 3 months

Otherwise he's a risk

Drinkwater is very similar to Dale Stephens who we were interested in as a free agent last season. Stephens had 4 good premiership years at Brighton followed by 2 disastrous ones at Burnley including a drink driving charge. He couldn't get a club last season because after 6 years of 40 grand a week he's not going to get out of bed for what he looks at as peanuts and retired . His choice, doesn't need the money but your a long time retired. What you don't want is to spunk half your transfer budget on players like these because we did it last season on ones who nowhere near reached the heights of these two in their prime.

Tried and failed to get him when in the championship. Wages obviously the issue.

To be honest, I’m surprised he hasn’t gone somewhere like West Brom or Stoke as normally they can’t resist these sort of signings. Ex premiership player on circa 30k a week.

No he was expecting loads of offers and did not put the effort in to get a contract.

Kenny and Connolly aren't good enough.

Read the article and he comes across as deluded and entitled..... Still thinks he is an option for a 'big club' as he is a free agent (and probably a big wage)

No prem team will touch him and he keeps papping on about Leicester...... Well get your agent to work a bit harder you prick
