We're said to be in for him, centre back for Cardiff (Warnock signed him).
29yo, 6 months left on his contract, 101 Championship appearances in the previous 3 seasons but only 9 in this - said to be "down the pecking order".

He has had quite a few injuries in his career, Would like to think Mick has looked at Tharme and Casey who could probably be recalled.
Tharme in particular managed step up from Southport to L1 quite easily

Tharme confirmed as staying at Stanley for the rest of the season. Mick is happy with the fact that he's playing every week. His contract is only until the end of the season, so it'll be interesting to see what happens then.

6 ft 0, experienced 29 year old.
Think that's what we need right now. Hadn't heard of him before but in MM we trust.

As for our young loaned players , I'd love to see them break into the first team, just not whilst we're in a relegation scrap.

We’ve shown by offering £800k for a player that we’re happy to splash the cash and it’s going to take that to get a really decent player in. Nelson might be ok, but it would be nice to get a young promising guy in too that we can develop and cash in on in 3 or 4 years time.

Would usually agree, but I think we've massively lacked experience this season.

Thought his contract was till 2024 with an option as well
Having checked my historic notes on signings, I believe you are correct tangy - my apologies.
I should have checked before quoting an article in today's Lancs Live (Sic): Despite that need, with the game time Tharme is getting at Stanley, McCarthy admits the defender is set to stay at the League One club. Even though his deal with the Seasiders only runs until the summer.

Are we willing to splash the cash? We are good at making offers we are pretty sure won’t be accepted, we then go for an alternative’ who is either free or considerably cheaper and never as good.we seem to be like walking round Harrods, then go and buy something from Poundland.

Good point Albert. We do have history.

We would have bought Brannagan if he hadn't decided against it at the last second. I think our big problem is that we always want a bargain when sometimes you've just got to pay what they're worth.

This sounds more realistic for our current situation, and what we're capable of in general.

For all the fancy role titles and pretending to reinvent the wheel it's a case of needs must. Who is available and possible to bring in, who will come here who can do a job.

I think it’s all kidology, I am coming round to agreeing with posters who have suggested Sadler either can’t afford to run a Championship team, or doesn’t want to. Taking your Brannagan example, he had a buy out clause yet at our first ‘attempt’ to sign him we, allegedly offered less than half and feigned surprise when we didn’t get him. I don’t think we were anywhere near signing him and in any case he had no intention of signing for us. He was, as we know, using us to secure a better contract at Oxford, with that attitude, I’m glad he didn’t sign. However I digress, the club has made , so called attempts to sign decent players, I am now very cynical of the seriousness of them. I am beginning to wonder if we are in managed decline.

I'm a massive fan of the usual young development model but experience is far more important right now, can go back to the young up and coming lads in the summer (assuming we don't get Sibbick) unless something really too good to turn down comes up

Suspect without Marv's injury we wouldn't be signing Nelson. Need CB cover and MM knows him well.
Exactly, being signed to fill in hole in our squad. Emergency CB until end of season. Hope he does well, my only concern is we are signing a player from one of our relegation competitors who isn’t deemed good enough for their team and they are happy to sell to us! Having said that I’m sure MM knows what he’s doing.

Our fans are utterly exhausting. We're potentially signing an experienced centre back with 400+ games played across the championship and league one.

what is the problem?
I don't think anyone has flagged any of that as a problem. It's just what we need.

Ask around to see if there's any spares then try to bring in whoever we can get who'll come here and put a shift in where needed.

Spot on

It's not one to excite fans of a Championship team but hopefully he'll be able to head it and kick it away reliably.

I still think Brannagan wasn't worth it. We got lucky with his cold feet.
