Conversely Critchley

Whilst I’ve mainly been backing NC throughout this season last nights performance has left me at somewhat of a tipping point.

It is clear that our players have been restricted from playing the way they would like and Critchley does seem to be obsessed with his system rather than the individuals which I get to a point.

But if last night showed us anything it’s that when on the front foot and playing with the freedom that being behind in a cup game allows our team is bloody good and should be up there fighting for promotion this year.

So if NC learns from it and changes his ethos for the rest of the season then it’s all good, if he doesn’t then I can see myself joining the murmurings of discontent.

Our home form and our performances against Portsmouth and Forest indicate we are an automatic promotion side in terms of capability. We just aren't playing like one away from home most of the time. Automatic is looking out of reach and we need to radically address our away performances as of now. Being fair to Critch, he's not had Gabriel, Joseph and Lavery for most of the season, and Morgan is only recently at a high level of performance. Norburn was out for a while. Dougall got honey trapped into a cult by a lifestyle guru. It's not all been plain sailing for the wee fella!

It hasn’t and as I say I’ve backed him in the main but promotion this season is possibly our best chance for sometime so NOW is the time for us to kick on and tear this shite league apart.

I doubt it. NC is safety first. Our own version of Gareth Southgate. TV giving him credit for bringing on subs that should have started.
Maybe he could approach every match like trying to come back in the Cup. Hire a hypnotherapist?
Ollie could get this lot playing like that every match - home and away.
Of all the previous managers we could have gone back for, how they went for Larry & Appleton over Ollie is perplexing.

Dont trust anything he says. He was doing well last night until he started praising Karl Oyston on national television. He talks rubbish these days.
He’s always had that stance with Karl. He knew he could experiment with his all out attacking football philosophy without the threat of the sack after a few dodgy results. He’d never had that before in football management, so I don’t blame him for protecting his one solid employer. He’s actually being honest. That view might not go down well with the majority, but I understand where he’s coming from.

We trusted NC. He signed a lengthy contract extension and then fooked off without saying a word. Doesn’t reflect well, imo. Now we’re expected to trust him all over again. Er, no.

If what Ollie meant was we should believe in ourselves and go at teams, he was absolutely right and echoing a lot of what is said on this forum.

I just turned him down for a minute when he started to burble about the Oystons. Nothing new to year there.

Doesnt sit right with me being invited into Bloomfield Road and on the pitch starts spouting off how good Karl Oyston was after the club and especially certain fans suffered so much you might be fine with that but I find it utterly deplorable.

Nah I don't go with this at all. Critch has constantly been saying he wants them to be on the front foot. Constantly been shouting them on the sideline and wanting them to move forward or play progressively but cos he's happy for us to keep the ball when nothings on or go backwards sometimes he's seen as negative. Rubbish. There's been issues with Lyons, Gabriel, Lavery, Joseph, Dembele wasnt really fit for a while, Norburn been injured playing in a new system with a new style and a young team. It just takes time for players to get settled. Our away form was an issue without Critchley but once we get that off our backs I reckon we will crack on.
Plus our attitude as fans has been just as negative as our teams performance sometimes.
Hopefully last night was the game we really kick on and start believing in ourselves again and stop feeling sorry for ourselves both players and fans.

What annoys me is that he praised Oyston live on TV and then looked at the crowd and said "they don't like me saying that".

WELL DON'T SAY IT IN FRONT OF US THEN. Keep it to yourself.

I don't think that he came over to well to be honest, i just thought he was always trying to make a point or have a sarcastic dig, and got to say what does he look like with an ear ring, not for me sorry

He wasn’t praising Karl Oyson, he said he always got on well with him, two entirely different things. If he had said Karl was a great bloke and did wonderful things for BFC, then yes he would be rightfully getting brickbats. Getting on with someone and defending their actions are completely different things.

I wonder if Ollie’s presence last night did actually have bearing on the gung-ho second half performance 🤔

Honestly, this sort of comment is ridiculous. Crediting a superb (but ultimately futile) Blackpool comeback to a manager who hasn't coached a Blackpool team in over 10 years. Really, really poor post.

Sometimes I think ours fans will do anything they can to avoid crediting the good things they see on the pitch to the right people. Calderwood must be tearing his hair out.

Yes Peter Sutcliffe was a brilliant lorry driver and a very good colleague........

He was gushing over Karl. He always does. AND he regularly defends the way Karl ran the club.

Edit to say that whatever tripe Ollie comes out with doesn't bother me in the slightest. He's still a God to me.
I know you were being facetious about Sutcliffe, but Harold Shipman was highly regarded by his patients, which goes to show people aren’t what you think. I also have the same memories of Ollie as you.

The genie is out

That was my take on it, I wonder if Ollie’s presence last night did actually have bearing on the gung-ho second half performance 🤔
I said at ht, send Ollie in for motivational team talk & make changes & attack!
Maybe it happened?👍

I also said he wouldn't make any changes at ht (as always)& only when 2 down!

Spot on, he's an egotistical buffoon who plays to the media for effect. Not unlike his hero...... Karl Oyston. If he had an ounce of common sense he would just draw a veil over his love affair with the family that all but sank our club.

IH is a hypocrite.
He attempted to embarrass NC with the questions around us supporters & his return to the club; together with him wanting to ring NC & advise him against leaving "I wanted to say 'what are you doing'?". This from a man who was a hero to most supporters & could have been our manager for years. But instead he allowed the players to ease off their training schedule (fact), before leaving the club the day before we played at Derby. He sneaked out of SG in Kims car, leaving Thommo to take the reigns & subsequently suffer a heavy defeat.
I'll also be grateful to his, but last night his mouth ran away with him & he overstepped the line.

Stop rewriting history he said Karl was a big part of the success which is praise and goes well beyond just saying he got on with him !

The thing with koko was you always knew what you were going to get. Nothing. (or worse) That bred a kind of siege mentality with Holloway and his team. That 'little Blackpool' jibe was his version of reverse psychology. It fired his players right up.

We have sold ourselves short this season. I just hope it’s not too late and an opportunity lost😞
