Congratulations to the new boys.

Pleased both Harrogate and Barrow have managed to stay in the league in their first season (back in Barrows case) and not sorry to see Cleethorpes and sarfend go. Some clubs you can just take a dislike to for no apparent reason and these are two of mine.

Southend did not look a bad team when they played us last season, it is very hard to stop a slide when things go wrong

I've never felt any affection towards Barrow. Holker Street was of those places I never wanted to play at. It always seemed to be rainy and muddy and they had a big communal bath that ended up full of mud and blood.

Why would you be happy for some other clubs to stay up and happy for others to go down? None of them have anything to do with us for a start. Personally I'd never be happy for any team to go out of the league - not even our main rivals as I'd rather play them. But gloating over Grimsby and Southend is very sad IMO.

Who is gloating? As I said if you actually read the post, it is not rational, just dislike some clubs. No need to try and stir IMO.

Always sad to see traditional League clubs drop out of the top 4 divisions. This will be the first time since their admission in 1920 that Southend are being relegated to the non-league, 100 years of League football coming to an end.

Come now, you must have a completely irrational scale of teams you like/don't like based on things like

'they've got good floodlights'
'i liked their away kit in 1989'
'my mate supported them and I went to a game in 1994 with him'
'i don't like red'

and so on.

As it happens, Grimsby are on my list of teams I don't mind much, cos Paul Groves was there and they were fun when they had that mad italian and I really like Southend's weird old fashioned ground.

Barrow, I like, Harrogate, I've taken against for no reason at all. I can't even explain it other than I once had a bad experience trying to park there. (As irc, did Brett Ormerod)

Well done to both clubs. When I came into football Cumbria had three clubs, then it went down to none and now it's back up to two. Far rather have Northern town clubs like Barrow than London satellite towns like Crawley, Stevenage and (possibly) Sutton.

The Sulphurites. Promoted with the advantage of a plastic pitch, but have survived relatively comfortably. Well done. Pity we couldn't have gone to the Cup tie, as its straight down the road from here.

Wouldn't have been upset to see Scunny go - always been a thorn in our side. Colchester and Walsall wouldn't have been bad teams to go either!

So if Codwood and Nob End went out if the league you wouldn't gloat?

I've never taken to Fleetwood getting into the EFL. Bought their way in and still don't have decent support. They benefited from a period of turmoil at our club.
Just my view and I'll put my tin hat on! 🙂
My brother is a cod sth and he maintains that 9% of the towns population of 28k equates to 2500 which isn't a bad percentage.

Ok, I was only talking in absolute numbers and not per head of population. Nothing against their supporters.

Like AFC Fylde, I just consider them irrational vanity projects where there was no real potential fanbase for a sustainable club.

I always feel sad when good established clubs fall out of the league. Grimsby and Southend no different. I hope they bounce back. Along with Hartlepool, Wrexham, Torquay, Notts County, Darlington, Hereford.

But not Stockport or Chesterfield. They can stay where they are! 🤣

Pleased for Barrow as I was born there and we lived on Walney when I was young. They were extremely unlucky to lose the re-election vote as they didn't finish bottom, but some other clubs had more influence than them. They also gave us Emyln Hughes. Their fans deserve to see them play in the league again

Walsall I detest. Based on that final day defeat to stop us going up automatically & then the saddos draped 'you'll lose at Wembley' flags over the bridge on the M6. Queue Bambers penalty 😪

Well I hope Stockport get back even though I have never been in Edgeley Park except when they have played us(*) ...despite the fact it is just over 3 miles away😉.
Even Chesterfield ground is closer to me than Bloomfield Road is.

(*) One exception being back in the sixties when we were due to play a City at a Maine Road and the game was called off so my Dad decided to take us to County to see them play a FA cup tie( think it was v Bishop Auckland) .We had reasons to go anyway as both my parents and grand parents were from Stockport and my Uncles and Aunties lived there to.My grand parents ( dads side) even had a small shop( an “open all hours“ type) in Edgeley itself though sadly I don’t know exactly where it was these days.

As for Barrow and Harrogate staying up, I’m glad ( especially for Barrow) because their fans deserve to see them actually play with a crowd in.

I didn't mean it.

I’ve narrowed the date down to 26th November 1960( least I hope so)....Maine Road was waterlogged I believe...I was only 9 after all😉...and County won 2 0
Now if I could only identify where that shop was 😳😳
