Amidst the various non stop meltdowns on AVFTT, Other championship teams have, of course, been trying to strengthen their squads from last season.
Admittedly I've only had a cursory look at ins and outs for other squads as, let's face it, the sun is shining and life is just too short.
However, many fans comments read like many of ours. Too many loans, too many freebies, not enough quality etc etc.
Chissy, love him or loathe him, was summing us up and he pretty much said that Appleton had inherited a decent if unspectacular squad with extra quality needed in certain areas so nothing we didn't already know.
My main point with this post is just to put things in perspective. Various fans think their clubs have underperformed in the transfer dept, most have spent nowt, two or three lost managers they thought they might have kept and, apart from the relegated Prem. Clubs plus one or two others, no one has really spent anything.
So, to sum up, we re not in bad shape. Could we be in better shape? Of course. Will we be competitive? Absolutely.
It's a brand new season, get behind the manager and team. Give Apples a chance. Hopefully we'll get to see attacking football, the young lads stepping up, one or two stepping up and surprising us. I'm semi optimistic. Up the Mighty Pool.
