In complete agreement with the argument you put forward in your post, Loco. For the club to be battling such indifference, not only from the wider Blackpool public, but also from their own fanbase, truly beggars belief.

Fans of other clubs, who perhaps visit this site (and particularly at such a key time, of course), must read the moaning and mithering tone evident in so many of the posts submitted, and, in their sheer exasparation/disbelief at the nature of the content they come across, must think to themselves: 'WTF!'

Because I know I do ...

After what has proved something of a frustrating season thus far, to suddenly be faced with the opportunity of experiencing a brief moment of glory in a cup competition (which, if nothing else, has proved a most welcome distraction this season), you would have reason to think would have the effect of galvanising both the town and the club.

Not a bit of it, you fool (comment to self ...). Because, let's face it, where sport is concerned, apathy rules on the Gold Coast, and the vast majority of the resident population really can't be arsed with football, nor with following that strange little club which plays in that peculiar-coloured kit ... And anyway, there's so much more to do in Blackpool than to watch 22 grown men kick a ball around what (presently) looks like nothing more than a giant mud patch ...
 
Our fanbase is an utter embarrassment at times. Our football club used to be run by a family who bled it dry for their own personal financial gain, treated employees, managers, players and fans with utter contempt, sued people when they spoke out, used it as a knocking shop for their own sexually deviant behaviour, caused decent people to get ill both physically and mentally and effectively stopped us from watching our team for the best part of four years.
Now there’s a Blackpool fan who’s put millions into the club, much of which has been used to put right the wrongs of the scum. He’s improved so many aspects of the club, given the staff a work place environment where they’re valued and treated properly, not to mention giving the community trust around £500k of his own cash to get it up off the floor where the scum left it. In 3/4 years time his outlay will be upwards of £50m which is money he’ll never get back.
Has he made mistakes ??? Yes, some big ones but show me a football club that doesn’t. Every mistake made has cost SS dearly from a financial stand point but he’s still there ploughing the cash in, backing the manager and wanting to be successful. Those at the club know that things take time but they’re all working hard to get the club where everyone wants it to be.

But… apart from a hardcore of people, what does our fanbase do ???? Moan about )£15 tickets for adults and £5 for kids for a game where a win sees us at Wembley in the only cup competition we can realistically win, a small section even compare SS to the fedora wearing rapist who took the piss for 30 years. That’s ok though, just crack on embarrassing yourselves. If I was SS I’d seriously wonder why I bothered at times.

I'm not particularly moaning at £15, I just think it does nothing to attract those wavering. With me it's complete apathy towards the competition. It could be free and I'd watch at home. I'd imagine I'm not the only one

For those wavering, the club could and should have made it cheaper, especially for those with kids.

No they shouldn’t make it cheaper £15 for an adult and £5 for a child can’t be moaned at. Take off the police costs. Stewarding costs. Utilities.

Every time something happens at the club the reaction on here can be embarrassing at times.
My hope is Sadler never reads this board but I imagine he probably does glance from time to time and must just think “why bother”.
If he wasn’t a fan it wouldn’t surprise me if he just went fuck this and went full Karl Oyston on us.

Agree with much of that and it is helpful to remember what we have and take stock, however I think you are taking a very small minority of people online that are genuinely moaning.

There's people discussing prices for games etc and the best way to fill the stadium.

As for those who compare him to the Oystons, I'd imagine the number is vanishingly small and are some even genuine accounts. Half of them might have been Lythamkev recently...

There is apathy towards this competition from all sets of fans. There's been some pitiful attendances in many rounds from decent sized clubs.

Let's wait until we know the final crowd before we announce how poorly attended our next game is.

Ha ha I would agree with you if demand was likely to exceed supply but somehow I don’t think there will be any difficulty in every man, woman, child, cat, dog etc etc getting a ticket for the final should we get there.

The price can clearly be moaned at, this thread evidences that. Bradford have charged a tenner for their game, and £2 for kids (u12).

I think the attendance will be ok, maybe 5k,.

It's not like this situation is new is it, most Blackpool fans have been pissing in the wind for years and years to change people's mindset of their local club. I don't like the saying but it is what it is,always has been,always will be.

Yeah, understand that. And that's essentially because we're talking there about clubs with slightly loftier ambitions than those we might hold to. But, that isn't to say we shouldn't be focussing on our own aspirations, and aiming for what are realistic targets for our level - such as overcoming Peterborough in the next round of the cup, in order to take our rightful place on the stage which serves as the setting for so many of the nation's great sporting occasions, Wembley Stadium. And, if the good people of Blackpool, let alone the supporters of the club, aren't able to summon themselves for this, you really do have to ask yourself: What, exactly, would it take?

Unfortunately your right.
Blackpool born and bred Dads buying their children, UTD, Liverpool, Leeds tops because their great, great Grandad was born somewhere near Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds.
I get it if you haven't got a great local football team to follow but we have, bloody shame for those children if you ask me.
 
Quite a few more gone in all sides since last time and that will ramp up as the game comes closer. Middle of the west filling up.

The north will end up close to full.

Superb post. Agree with every word. Also agree that SS must think what’s the point, if I was him I’d be tempted to issue a statement saying the club is up for sale and must therefore live within its means until it’s sold, then we’d appreciate what we’ve got with SS.
 
Will get my tickets Tue . watched every one of our current cup run. YES wtf do Blackpool peeps want. Off course with the fifteen pouns tickets its been the ability to access live football at reaonable prices. MY son cant do SAT cos of family commitments . Tue had just slottted in nicely. . and just one game from the final. POSH and POOL have taken one game apiece in the League. At each others ground. Perfectly set up for the semi game. .

I think the competition is great for L1 and 2.
Lets fans see how good some of our youth are, players coming back from layoffs and decent money if you take it seriously.
It is for lower league players their only realistic chance of playing at Wembley, if they do not manage the playoffs

Lucky you're not him then. I'm sure he knows the buying habits of the fanbase and doesn't immediately put the club up for sale based on BSM tickets not immediately flying off the shelves or some people online debating the price point.

Bolton possibly but it literally was Plymouths cup final

Is it Pay on the Night? Not got my tickets yet as unsure how many want to go? Be a late call and can get tickets at 5pm on the way home but as it's an 8pm gives me loads of time before the game to pop in.

Ticket office will be open till kick off . No restrictions on sales as far as I can tell .

We haven't been in numbers for 12 years either. A whole generation of new supporters. Unless you went in the middle of the boycott, or were one of 4,000 in 2021.

Just goes to show how this comp can energise a fan-base! Look how Bolton & Plymouth are doing this season. Going back to those LDV finals at the Millenium Stadium it definitely was the start of emerging from the depths of lower league hell. So we've a great chance of getting to a Wembley Final and raising our profile and creating new fans.

I've got to be honest here, and say I was under the distinct impression that the poster responsible for the above message was a bit of a jumped-up, self-important, self-aggrandising, deluded, conceited, and rather pompous no-mark. But it seems I may have been a little hasty in reaching that assessment. For, while it has to be said that the aforementioned points still apply, I hadn't realised that the 'witless wonder' held such sway at the club, that he/she was able to actually alter the month on which certain fixtures were due to be played. I mean - WOW! No wonder you're so far up your own arris ! When you are in a position to be able to affect playing policy at the club in such a confident, self-assured fashion - is it any wonder you come across as a totally obnoxious individual, anxious to put down any unsuspecting fan whose views and opinions may not, necessarily, fit with yours. It must be great living in your world ...

It was brought to our attention on a thread last week that the tosser you have replied to has left the site.

I suspect that he realised he was sailing to close to the wind and got out before I and a few others outed him.
 
North almost sold out, only limited tickets now for anyone wanting to be in amongst the noise.

Still plenty in the corner though.
