I think there is a real possibility that we might have been in deep trouble. The Interim Board had to fight off a points deduction, and the field of candidates to take over didn't include many Simon Sadlers. So the existential threat to the club was pretty real at the time.
Of all the crap comments I've read today, that is one of the worst. Snide really doesn't come into it.
Robbie
On your top point, I am sure you know more than me and make a fair point re the potential candidates.
Saying that, I'm sure that it is highly probable that the club would have survived but perhaps not in as healthy as a position.
Regarding what you called a "snide" comment, I might not have worded it well because I'm walking on eggshells on here and didn't want to take that Sadler wasn't happy for granted as I don't know whether or not he was actually upset at supporters complaining.
So I SUGGESTED that Sadler MIGHT BE happy enough and that it was Brett Gerrity expressing his own dissatisfaction at complaints, I do not know that was true and I did not say it was a FACT but at previous meetings held at the start of the tenures it appeared to me that Brett Gerrity, Ben Mansford and the commercial chap (Linton/Lindon ?) all liked to have to have smoke blown up their @rses - I am sure we all do from time to time.
I certainly do not want to be overly critical of Sadler, the board or anybody connected with the club but I am of the opinion that supporters should be allowed to express valid concerns.
In typical fashion it appears that it has something has been decided - in this case that Sadler is the holy saviour - and nobody is allowed to veer away from that line. *** Sorry Robbie but just to make it clear that I meant the majority of the board and not you personally. ***
I am criticising the intolerance of this board and the inability to discuss and debate differing opinions on matters more than I am criticising Sadler and personall my only criticism of Sadler is that he - or his team or both - appear to be less than willing to accept criticism.
As I've already said, it would appear that because Sadler is following the Oyston's then he can do no wrong ?
To be fair to Sadler, following the Oyston's should also not mean that he doesn't receive praise and recognition when it is deserved and personally I feel that he should be praised for the progress the club has made under his control, it is clear to see that things are more positive at the club and everything connected with it - especially the fan base !!!!!!!! - and I think that the club is certainly moving in the right direction.
I just feel that it is perfectly possible for supporters to have valid concerns on certain issues despite the progress made and that addressing such concerns will help ensure that the club continues to progress.
Apologies for chunnering on Robbie, I have no doubt that you are reading my chite with your fingers in your ears but while I have no problem with you referring to my comment as "snide" at least allow me to offer an explanation.
