Blackpool Football Club is delighted to announce the return of Josh Bowler on loan from Nottingham Forest.

The winger links back up with the Seasiders on a deal until the end of the season, having recently spent time out in Greece with Olympiacos.

A fans’ favourite at Bloomfield Road, Bowler’s first spell in tangerine was a scintillating one that saw him score 10 goals in 52 appearances.

Aiming to pick up where he left off, the 23-year-old is set to make his second debut for the Club away at Watford on Saturday 14 January, wearing the number 11 shirt that he previously vacated.

Josh Bowler said:

“It feels amazing to be back. I’ve only got good memories here and as soon as the opportunity arose, I wanted to come back. From the first day I left until yesterday, I got a message every day from a Blackpool fan or some of the players. You really do notice the love and it makes you feel so good. It made it a no-brainer to come back. Hopefully that translates on to the pitch because football is a confidence game and I’m a confidence player.

“I know the fans will get behind me, I know the fans will get behind the team, and I can’t wait to show them again what I can do.”

Michael Appleton added:

“We’re clearly very happy to have Josh with us again, and I’m sure our fans are delighted to see him back as well. He’s got incredible ability, he can carry the ball, get us up the pitch and, most importantly, he’s a match-winner.

“You’ve only got to look at the contribution he made at the start of this season to see the impact he can have. In tight games, he can win them with a piece of magic.”

Totally understand any player wanting to progress their career/finances - why wouldn’t they?

Equally, a move back home is a no-brainer for him at this time, as it was with Brett. Equally, whatever his future journey, I suspect he now has a tangerine heart.

No doubt certain Grinchers will be on here whingeing, but I’m fkg delighted to see him back & hope/expect he gets the ‘Welcome Home’ he deserves.

We all muse about tactics/formations/subs-timings etc, etc - but really - what could be more exciting now than the prospect of seeing a classic JB attack, with opposition defenders backing off at a pace?

Great news.
If we assume he’d have left at the end of the season on a free anyway, it as if we’ve been paid a shit ton of money to loan him to Olympiakos for half a season!
😁

Very very happy he's back, we need that central midfielder now so we can have a 433 of:

Grimshaw
Connolly
Marv
Thorniley
Hubby
New CM
Patin0
Poveda
Bowler
Madine/Yates/ Lavery or Beesley
Rogers

That's a very tasty team although we may see an experienced centre half too.

Very good signings which poses the question:-
Will this bring the supporters closer to MA?
Obviously his targets so let’s see where it takes us.

Hang fire on Yates because if Sunderland sell Ross Stuart in this window then Yates is their target to replace him.
Don’t know the termof of his contract but I’m pretty sure a club of that size would be tempting.

As Josh says, he's a confidence player. What he's saying, is that he needs the supporters behind him & encouraging him.
Be patient when he makes an error, as he can't win every game on his own, and defenders will double upon him (but that allows him to make space for others).
Those few supporters who criticised him when he was last here, need to sit on their hands, zip it & turn their social media links off!

I would definitely have Yates in that line up ,as Bowler for starters doesn't play high balls into the box, and Madine would still be on the half way line.

Really happy with this signing. I’ve really been struggling getting over Josh and seeing Beesley and co in his position. Finally we have some real talent in the team.

Centre midfielder next. That really is the key position. Another centre half would be nice too.

Too true, but you just know they'll be all over AVFTT like a rash when he has a bad game. Which he inevitably will do.

Have you seen Rogers play much?

I don’t think you were replying to me but I disagree that they’re the worst fullbacks ever in any formation. I think they’d be better than Kirk Hilton and John O’Kane.
Well true but I compare to the likes of Coleman and Crainey. They offered something going forward as well and this helps create the space for the wingers. With Husband behind Bowler, Bowler could end up getting double marked again.

Oh sorry, you said the worst fullbacks ever so I didn’t realise we were comparing to the best fullbacks we’ve had in the last 30-50 years.

Well if you been at pretty much every game Bowler played, you'd realise that Bowler played down the RIGHT wing and that Husband is LEFT back. So not a case of one playing behind the other at all.

Yep silly mistake. Swap Husband for Connolly I’ve been to every game Bowler has played in as he is worth the entry fee alone. Might even think about attending now as we won’t be boring to watch anymore with Bowler.

Husband will be behind Rogers, can see Lyon’s playing left back when JG is back.

Hoping Lyon’s is ready to take the right back mantle at least till JG is fit, Connolly a great utility player but we need better in that position.

Love the fact that Bowler is back, but wonder how long it will be before he starts getting stick off the negative posters on here.
Never looks up, runs into blind alleys, greedy were some of the accusations thrown at him in the recent past.
I am just glad we have a player back who wants to beat several defenders and then stick the ball in the back of the net, he is worth the admission charge on his own.

It's already started. One poster is reserving judgement. No doubt so he can blame Bowler if we end up going down.
