Blackpool v Carlisle Official Matchday Thread 09.12.23

Thought the whole team played well today, no weak links. The midfield performed well again, and the trio of Dougall, Carey and Dembele look to have developed into quite an effective combination. The pick of the players though were probably Beesley, Lyons and Pennington who were all superb. Beesley made numerous intelligent runs, has decent strength and a good first touch, and won headers all afternoon. He's definitely looking better for having a run of games in the team, and his place is fully justified at the moment. Pennington looked calm, assured and showed his class when a lesser player would've struggled with the conditions. Lyons is just a great signing, exactly the kind we should be making. He has good judgement of when to push forward and when to hold back, and he has that final ball quality. He certainly knows how to finish for a full back/wing back.

I think what is most promising for us is that we can bring on five players from the bench of the quality of Joseph, Gabriel, Norburn, Dale, and Morgan. That's incredible depth of quality for this league. All five would get in Carlisle's starting eleven imo. And we didn't even have Lavery, Ekpiteta or Virtue in the squad.
We've won 3 out of the last 4, and I remain convinced the players we have are good enough to go up. I honestly don't think the auto spots are out of the question. I saw nothing from Bolton or Portsmouth to suggest we shouldn't be aiming for that.
Great summary. I was saying the same thing in the pub before the game about our squad depth. Hoping that pays off in this congested period 🤞

I didn’t watch it or follow the result and it was only Carlisle hardly a massive win. The seasons over in my eyes I’ll follow that elf cup though that’s it

Well you wanted Critch out in September and now you can’t even be arsed watching or applauding a team that is growing in stature and starting to look a real threat.

Is that because it’s a manager you don’t like or is it because you’re only interested when it’s Championship or Prem League?

Just watched the hi lights and yes we played well but we wont come up against a goalie like that again this season. Let’s hope we start 2014 in a strong league position

Don’t watch any football now it’s as pointless as fitting wheels to a tomato. You’ve got all this money being thrown away in Saudi Arabia Man City buying the league every year how are the likes of Blackpool derby stoke going to compete with that? I like that cup we are in I’ll watch that apart from that we’ve got no chance

I predict we'll struggle, losing to the Wendies, Bolton and the Smoggies. And Ince will get the chop.
