Blackpool pot holes

Open in incognito if it doesn't let you read, should work.

A good news story apparently...makes financial sense given the apparent claims reduction.

Of course there will be loads more to do as always but still...

The claims reduction does not necessarily mean the problem is much better, it possibly means the claims submitted are being turned down more often.
Some of the roads in Blackpool are 3rd world bad and some of them have been for that last decade or more.

Was it all down to Reform lol?

No one from Blackpool Borough Council has ever driven down Ansdell Road then because that would have to be the first road to get sorted.
Between Waterloo Rd traffic lights and Bloomfield Rd traffic lights you'd be better off in a lunar buggy.

I'd love to see where ANY of this reported £30 million has been spent as the roads are getting worse and worse.

I was back in Blackpool 2 weeks ago, I was shocked how bad the roads were, felt like I was constantly avoiding potholes.

I'm only posting an article I saw, although there is some good work they do with a newer method for potholes, lead the way apparently, but it'll probably take years to do all that's needed properly, then more will be needed.

It'll definitely have played a part in the reduction of some claims.

You probably have to remember also, in certain areas Blackpool gets far more traffic than a town its size than anywhere else.

It's been quite a bad winter with all road everywhere suffering.

But undoubtedly there's areas that need urgent attention still.

I can remember growing up that our road would be closed off and resurfaced about every 5 years or so.

Then in the 90's the roads were all chopped up to bits by utility companies and became like patchworks with dreadful bodge job repairs despite those companies making multiple billions in profit.

And now we struggle to fill in potholes, never mind resurface.

And yet something prompted the article, so they must be doing something above other areas.

Everywhere I go there's potholes all over, probably lack of budget and a bad winter.

We used to get far worse winters. It used to snow at least 2 or 3 times every winter. It never snows now. My daughter is 18 and we only ever had enough snow to make a snowman 1 time. And it was crap.

Yeah, but I believe wet weather does too.

There's also more and more cars around these days and many places have probably scaled back due to budget or just can't keep up with the number of roads that need doing.

I’ve just driven from Layton to Sainsbury’s car park in Town. I had to check my tyres once I got there the pot holes were so bad.

Not sure why the article references the winter of 2023. It's been shocking for years.
Yeah but it's only added to it, as it has everywhere.

You have to also wonder how much an impact generally on the whole road network the increasing number of electric cars has or will have or is having.

Decent article that.
Yes, there must be a connection to the pothole explosion and electric car numbers.
Blackpool Council purchased their own equipment to repair these potholes far more efficiently. Bravo. 👏 👏

I'd love to know where these potholes are being repaired in Blackpool.
Everywhere you go they are all over the place.
As for the poster who said there's more traffic on the road, I defy you to show me where the traffic is busier than Manila!!
Was there in March being driven round all day and said to the Mrs later that evening that we only saw TWO potholes!!! Think we need to ask them what they're using to lay roads as its better than the shite we're using🤬

When are they starting? Because I haven't seen any getting fixed.

Look in the articles and it shows you the bigger jobs, including Preston new Rd, went over that the other day it coming from Fylde to Blackpool is far better.

And Manila... have you considered the weather and temperature fluctuations are vastly different and have an effect? But they may well put more into their roads as well.

From an update a couple of months ago...

Our most recent works took place in February 2024 on the following roads in the Marton area:

Paddock Drive
Dovedale Avenue
Wordsworth Avenue
Kingsley Road
Knutsford Road
Kipling Drive
We have also worked in the below areas over the past couple of years:

Red Bank Road (Bispham)
Denville Avenue, Idlewood Place, Glenarden Avenue, Springbrook Avenue and a section of Seabrook Drive (Anchorsholme)
Crichton Place, Bentinck Avenue, Walpole Avenue and Abercorn Place (Squires Gate)
Moore Park Avenue (Bispham)
Faraday Way (Bispham)
St Annes Road (South Shore)
School Road (Stanley Ward)

I think they'll be the bigger resurfacing ones rather than quick spot fills.

Faraday way at the top end (Norcross) at the junction of Bispham Road (the small one, not the main Bippy Road) is horrendous. All that bit leading upto the Norcross mini roundabout is bad.

Talbot road near Savoy timber has deteriorated quickly, really rough just outside the Shell garage both ways for about 50 yards ☹️

There are plenty around here too BUT the worst are on the Motorway system especially the M60 and their slip roads…..it’s no fun and actually dangerous trying to avoid them so if you do hit one at 70 mph, which is a high probability, then you certainly know you have and one day they will cause a lot worse than damaged tyres or broken suspension.

Same round here. Come off J4 of the M621 and there is more pothole than road surface.
