BBC - Normal People

Another good Irish series on at the moment is Blood. Saw the first series and that was also excellent.

NB. TTJ says Normal People is set on the west coast of Ireland in Tobercurry, perhaps it was named after me. 😁
 
Have watched the first two episodes and it's OK but I don't quite get where it's going? Least the eps are only half an hour long!
 
Apart from Naked Attraction, very rarely you ever see anyone naked on TV these days - seemed in the 80's every man and his dog couldn't wait to get their meat and two veg out!

I flicked over to BBC1 last night just after 9 and after a couple minutes, realised it was episode 3.
Recorded the series now and look forward to watching it.

Repeat of Innocent is on ITV.
 
Watched the first 6 episodes last night and enjoyed it. First 2 episodes a bit slow but it drew me in. The nudity is tastefully done and the acting is superb by the two main characters.

It was engaging. French production. As always with these things, why do people wander off without telling anyone?
 
Finished it last night. Good to see that the Beeb can rival Netflix in 'must watch' dramas. Surprised they don't make BBC3 linear again?
 
Really good drama. Slow to start with but incredibly powerful. Highly recommend 👏👏👏👏👏

P.S. Don't they want BBC3 to be the Yoof channel and thus pushed it on line!!

Watched first 3 episodes last night...very good and far better than the dross served up by BBC recently.

I'm at exactly the same point and agree. Enjoyed it so far but can't see how they are going to stretch it out with all the episodes left. Great acting though.

I must admit, I switched it off as soon as the first raunchy bed scene appeared....Does the series stand up based on the storyline or are the boring bed scenes all it has to offer, cause if so I'll try again?

Plenty of sex scenes that's for sure but the story line is very good. It's pretty obvious what the storyline or theme running thru it is about. First loves, broken hearts, awkwardness etc. I enjoyed it, it's got some really good reviews but if it's not for you then it's not for you.
 
I'll certainly agree with you on this occasion 20togo, this series is absolute quality, well written well acted well directed well photographed, the story with real depth and much nuance, and we can all relate to some of the themes at some point in our lives. it has a whole range of emotions and it's easy to emotionally connect with the characters on some level even if you don't like them. And you have got to give it to the Irish when they write well it's always a treat. I'm on episode 10 and I've been trying to slow down as I really don't want to get to the end, because then it will be over and I don't really want it to be. That's the kind of impact it has had. And I think it might be a good idea to make it compulsory viewing for teenage lads just to see how you might want to respectfully conduct for sex with a woman/girl. Rather than what they might be watching on PornHub. Even if you took most of the visual sex out of this it would still easily stand on its own feet.

We had a few days in Donegal once (beautiful place) and drove down to Sligo. Beautiful coast line and nice to see it portrayed in this. Recognised the Main Street from it. Good drama.

Too many of my friends have cried watching it ergo it must be good. But I don’t want to cry right now. So will pass on it and watch after lockdown 👍

Very good analysis Brighton, my wife and I are really enjoying the series and also think both leads play superb parts, the only downside for me is the sex scenes are too often and too long, not that I mind a raunchy scene, but I felt they were a bit OTT in the episodes I've watched so far. Definitely worth watching though as it's an excellent series.
 
Watched all 10 episodes, turned to the wife and said 'Is that it?' she agreed.

Thats 5 hours of my life I'm not getting back.
 
Finished this last night and its 6 hours of my life im not getting back. First 2 episodes were ok and the acting is good but after that it just went round in circles not going anywhere. Like one of those frustrating dreams that you cant get out of.
