Barrow v Blackpool Official Matchnight Thread 05.09.23

I love opinions, but why do we always have a player or two we have to pick on?

We have completely outplayed them. played really well and deserve to be going in 1 up. Players realise there are opportunities to play in the first XI and they want to impress. Carey has been involved a lot and Dembele looks a real handful, get him on the opposite side to CJ. Thommo has had a good game, I don't know what people are watching and Thame and Marv look good at the back. Dale is chasing everything, assisted for the goal and considering we have no recognised central forwards (which goes show) I think we are good value for the lead at half time. Sorry to be so upbeat, but I really enjoyed that half.
Dembele on one wing and CJ on the other and they’ll be a real handful in Div 1

Maybe, but we never went into the corners with 5 minutes to go under MA, I know we didn't tonight because we got the breakaway goal, but Critch does seem to like seeing out a game when there is only 1 goal in it. I think Virtue coming off made a difference too.
It's just the classic, when winning, Blackpool fc panic mode.

It sounds like the promise shown by Kouassi and Dembele and others should help settle some nerves about our recruiting in the last window. Obviously there is the rider of it only being a League Two reserve side, but generally things feeling so much more positive than last Friday night.

But on what basis? Just because a commentator doesn't mention a player doesn't mean they're not doing anything. He could have been making himself available or making decoy runs to create space for others. The average fuckwit commentator on local radio isn't going to pick that out, they just follow the ball. No basis for judging someone's performance at all.
So, I said that it didn't sound like Thompson had done much. The clue is in the word, 'sound.' Obviously, I've not watched the match so it's an opportunity for someone who did see it to fill in the picture. You jumped in to assume I was asserting that he is crap. I was doing nothing of the sort. The poster @Danny Ocean reported that his passing was poor. That tells me something in the absence of anything coming from the commentators.

Thompson made a good tackle in the last minute and the commentator said 'Donkor makes another good tackle - he has done well since he came on.' Jamie Hoyland then agreed with him.

Well whatever his height is there's been some serious scouting gone on to identify this lad.
The question is why was no-one bothered he left and why didn't he do that well at Sutton?

OK he's young, in a poorer side etc, but he seems to have the physical attributes and a lot of potential.

Weird that he wasn't wanted but our gain, playing with better players, more chances, better coaching.

Am exited about this one.

Kouassi is down as 5'7" tall on t'internet, he has to be at least 6'2" he towered above OB when they celebrated the goal and he's 6', could he be a real find?
He was a similar ish height to Carey it seemed, who is meant to be 6 foot.

It's great news as he's a unit and a lot taller than we thought.

This is the type of player we should be signing, with attributes that are hard to stop.

I think they were bothered he left! They were gradually introducing him to senior foitball as a 19 year old. He only started 5 games but came in as a sub quite a lot last season. He won't be introduced in a hurry for us either.

But why comment negatively on a player on the basis of one post from someone anonymous? What's the point if not to denigrate the player, which was clearly the implication?

From some fan opinions some didn't seem bothered.

Anyway whatever, he's ours now.

I have made my point clear to you. I have said it wasn't intended to denigrate. If you wish to persist with your barbs regardless of what I've written then it is what it is. I can use my time more fruitfully than I can by indulging you.

I thought Sutton offered him a contract but he did not take them up on it. Early days but can see him bullying defenders as Akinfenwa used to.

Watched the game. The young kid Dembele looks a player. Got a bit of class about him.
