Barnsley invasion

Just got back to Blackpool and my train from Leeds was rammed with Barnsley fans.

Sold out their 2,100 and reckon 4,000 will be in the town over the weekend. Shame our away ends shite. Lost a lot of money there
Wouldn’t want them to have 4k in on a game of this magnitude. Potentially make a lot more money if we beat them and go up

One reason, when travelling by train tomorrow, I will have my tangerine in my bag and be a boring old gent in blue top, flat hat and walking stick, to make sure I get a seat.

I agree giving away more... not just for the game but for the town and more money for the town.

However I think the facilities just ain't good enough for 4k... I know if we went away and only had that SE corner I wouldn't be happy.

But until new stand is built then guess we are where we are 🤔

Met a couple in Wetherspoons in St Annes. Full of we will hammer you . kept my cool. Not worth it. Just parted with . tangerine army are waiting.

It's been good enough for 2 seasons in the Championship so what's changed?
The North East has an outdoor bar and porta loos no worse than some away trips.

But can't use that can they due to walking past North and possibility of crowd trouble is it? Having said that the facilities are still piss poor... but like I said until stand built it can't change

But for me when derby brought 4k town was buzzing and game was great atmosphere... and had Barnsley brought another 2k us pool would have had to up our game

My biggest problem with that chant is, I presume we mean inbred rather than interbred (otherwise is should be "the dogs year dad") and it's really not how inbreeding works. Or reproduction in general for that matter!! 😂

A decision was made before the start of this season that away fans wouldn’t be given the other half of the east

Whatever the reason is, the atmosphere and buzz around the ground is nowhere near as good.

Yes I go to watch the football but the atmosphere is why I go.

Without fans there is no professional game.
Dead right. They talk about integrity in their FA Cup statement but they’re prepared to deprive 2000 people of the opportunity to follow their club because they don’t think they can police a crowd of 13-14 thousand. A crowd of which there’s probably about 50 people who wouldn’t mind having a dust up. Ridiculous

Barnsley had the full East a couple of seasons ago(we won)and I didn't see any trouble so I repeat what's changed in 3 years?
As to the facilities who cares no worse than Fleetwood at least you can have a beer unlike Highbury.

It's bad business for a club which struggles financially against a lot of teams even in the league and bad for the town which relies on visitors.

I really do find this thread incredible.

So we have a chance (slim) of getting to the play offs by beating Barnsley, yet people on here want to give them half the ground to appease some B&B owners.
the league is a competition, give em 500 tickets and stick em in a corner of the ground.
Honestly FFS

Would you be happy if they did that to us?

It actually adds to the atmosphere Stoke last season was brilliant we won and they had both sides of the East.
The main issue with giving an advantage is that our temp east gives them the whole of the side of the pitch, so no matter which way they're going they can be fully supported. As opposed to an end of ground like at other places.

Of course it doesn't mean they'll win or even outsing home fans if we're at it.

It does seem mad to turn away revenue but also we should do more to fill it ourselves, with deals and initiatives.

We've had a very up and down league 1 campaign, played in many peoples eyes boring often ineffective football and have struggled to push into the playoffs at any point. We should have at least over 10.5k home fans tomorrow still, bit it could be a lot more with some effort.

If we had generated a buzz in summer and gone with a low price strategy with some better football and actually done better we could probably be getting an extra 1k+ even in league 1.

That way this debate wouldn't be necessary as we could fill a section with our own fans.

When the east is built around 3k max seems a reasonable target for away fans, depending on circumstances, if we can fill it ourselves that's always the priority. Ideally we'd fill it and gove them the minimum, bit we are a way off that yet and under the current circumstances.

And if you were Sadler you would give up the chance of an extra £60,000 plus spend in ground, every other week. Yeah right.

A extra 1k in home sales still doesn't fill our three sides of the ground this is about maximising profits from aways.
That's was the whole reason the club gave for home fans getting stung last year for £30 when the previous season the majority of games where £24 some 20 and a couple 28.

Talk about mixed messaging.

There's around 600 seats left.

There aren't 1k empty seats in the 3 sides, it's less. Well like I said probably 10.5k home fans tomorrow, could easily be getting 1k+ more, which would be filling the 3 sides and spilling into the east.

We sold around 8k ST with no manager then a reappointed NC who wasn't popular and prices effectively the same as the championship with a ST card.

Imo we could be getting near 10k ST holders with a low price strategy and a feelgood factor, then for big games the crowds would be exceeding the 3 sides.

Going forward the plan is to be in the championship, so such a policy there, especially after a promotion with fans in attendance and us growing a little again, should easily be able to fill the 3 sides plus part of the east.

It wouldn't take much to be making this away fans debate a non issue.

We've done it before in that corner, with a line of stewards and quite a few seats segregating the fans.
They still enter and leave from the same tunnel as the rest of the away fans.

Many other clubs have about 10 seats of segregation.
But there are season ticket holders in the seats that would have to be vacated.

Not in Y and Z there isn't. Those blocks went to home fans in the championship when the three sides sold out. When asked at the last SD meeting if we were going for the play offs or got into the play offs they'd open the North part of the East stand.

Nonsense . A packed crowd, feverish atmosphere makes for cracking games . In the olden times the atmospheres were amazing because the grounds were rammed with everyone all shouting their lungs out
Mull I agree with you 100 per cent but the poster you are replying to is making specific reference to tomorrows game because of its significance .

It’s a must win game and what we don’t need is a 4K raucous Barnsley crowd roaring their team on.

Any other time no problem .

Whatever happens, win -loose - draw. I just hope we give all we have and don't have any regrets (could've would've should've) that's all I ask. Come on you mighty Pool ⚽

When the East is built Id give the South to away fans

SS Should of given 800 tickets to Local schools in north/east stand

Really surprised that we have so many tickets left in the home end.
Surely after result tonight there will be a few more sales in the morning.
