Anyone here with type 2 diabetes...

I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes last year. I still eat sugary foods but make sure I take my medication which keeps my blood sugar (glucose) under control.

My husband is diabetic and he doesn’t eat a lot of sugary stuff at all and his bloods etc are always In Single digits which keeps the nurses happy
I buy him sugar free diabetic ice cream and sugar free biscuits which taste very much like normal biscuits, candarel instead of sugar for cereals and sweetners instead of sugar. Low sugar bisto, beans and ketchup etc.

You should have a review around your birthday each year. It really pays to be careful to keep your diabetic level down below 60. Sugar and ordinary chocolate should be avoided . My doctor set me a weight loss target and I shed 8 kilos and it brought my diabetes down 6 points. Good luck

I know 2 folk, one a relative, who had Type 2, lost weight and controlled their diet, and are no longer considered by their doctors to be diabetic 👍

Good luck

Thanks for all the messages guys. It's Easter 🐇 🐣 and I wouldn't mind enjoying an Easter Egg!!
Thorntons do sugar free chocolates and also just a bit further up from the imax cinema on the other side(side of winter gardens) there’s a little sweet shop they do all sugar free boiled sweets and sugar free chocolate bars. I use this shop all the time for my hubby. They have a wide choice such as chocolate limes chocolate eclairs. Humbugs. Blackcurrant and liquorice
Chocolate bars I think they do around 6 different large bars. Great little shop

.... That still eats sugary foods or ice creams etc and is still ok? Is it really that serious?
Eating too much carbs also causes blood sugar to rise.
Cut back on potatoes and have more green veg(use sweet potatoes as an alternative)
Bread, Pizza mainly go for sourdough, it takes longer to digest so sugars break down
Use wild rice rather than white rice.
Portion control is also key.

There’s a book available by Dr Michael Moseley, it’s called the blood sugar diet. If you read this it will teach you how to manage your blood sugar and still eat the things you like !
