Hit the ground running with a very good performance against Forest and an even better one against Southampton. He looks a great prospect and it is mystifying why Appleton dropped him against Watford to play Callum Connolly there instead. I am sure Gabriel will push Lyons all the way once he finally gets fit and Lyons may slot in at left back but we are definitely stronger in that troublesome position for now.

Maybe just maybe he wasn't match fit due to a recent lack of game time

You really need to let this Appleton obsession go pal, it's not healthy

As has been said before, this is effectively Lyons's pre season in England after a full season in Ireland. You can't expect him to play every minute at the moment.

It was good to see Andy making forward runs at weekend. I believe he will come through as an attacking half back in due course.

Excellent again yesterday and looks some player either on the or right...he will be a very valuable player one day and fair play to whoever scouted him...hes a brilliant addition. I have said for a long time that we should be targeting the best Irish and Scottish young talent as there are some real gems out there at budget prices. Anything less than £1 million for Lyons was an absolute steal.

Absolutely, fishing in Scottish and Irish waters has been good for us before and can be again. Lyons could become a big player.

Just seems to show for every potential player who’s been scouted & bought it’s still a good hit rate if you unearth 1 in 5. Let’s hop he kicks on unlike Thompson, who I’ve not written off completely yet.
