Is today effectively when contracts end and players can be approached from tomorrow or is that 30th June?
Be nice to get that first signing under the belt.

think it's 30 June when contracts end but the teams released list is done just after the end of season so as such clubs know who is available.
 
Signings are being made by some clubs, especially players available on free transfers, all seem to say effective from 1st July.

Normal contracts still officially run until 30th June. Some players know they are joining another club on 1st July so the press may preempt the official start date.

Must say I've been looking through different sites who have listed all the out of contract players and it doesn't look like it's rich pickings if that is our chosen route.

yeah, it's not something I would do. Just have to put our faith in Critchley to get the right players in and in Sadler to back him financially to do that. We don't really want the embarrassment of what happened last summer.
