22 Days special report

Just read this in today's paper. Very damning of Johnson and the government.

The strapline is 'How three weeks of dither and delay at No 10 cost thousands of British lives.'

Pretty sure this will be dismissed as typical left wing reporting.

And that’s on top of the article in the Spectator yesterday.

That’s why attempts to dismiss this as party politics, point scoring, and a witch hunt by the media are nonsense. This issue transcends party politics.
Remoaner.

Sorry, wrong thread. Number one when I was born Ramona Craig McLachlan

Indeed. Clearly Steve Baker and Peter Bone were dastardly remain assets planted at the heart of the Brexit campaign. Very devious these remoaners. And long term planners.

It's true they did dither and it cost lives

However this is a novel coronavirus which we are still learning about - highly infectious ,attacks multiple organs ,appears to have genetic aspects ,some people very mild symptoms

Add the socioeconomic shocks
Then people's reactions and media frenzy

This pandemic is a fkn super curveball
So not surprised there have been serious errors and not all problems are down to the government- many individuals acting like clowns and disregarding advice

There will be a time to reflect and learn and to point the finger but the focus has to be dealing with the shite tight in front of us and get the country back to some normality

NB I'm quite aware the spin will be

We have just got over this pandemic and everyone is euphoric so let's look to the future etc etc ( and bury whatvwent wrong) - dems the way these things are dealt with

Anybody reading this forum would think that Labour had won the last election and were sitting on an 80 seat majority. One things for sure, this forum definitely doesn't represent the real world or actual public opinion. It's like a little Marxist bubble with it's very own bitter and resentful climate. πŸ˜†

You read the report I assume ?

Are you saying that an 80 majority allows Dominic Cummings to ride roughshod over all advice and legal strictures? This is nothing to do with politics and everything to do with being part of the metropolitan elite and therefore the normal rules don't apply.

Totally agree or Labour would be pissing the opinion polls which they ain't by a long way even with the Kier Strimer Bounce.😁

Many who work in this field believe that the real problems lie about 3-4 yrs ago.
Assessment of risk, preparedness to respond and building resilience could all have been put in place. They weren’t and that is unforgivable.
A pandemic has been the biggest global threat ( more than nuclear war ) with treatment resistant microbes
There have been warnings - Ebola, SARS, MERS but it seemed quite remote and very difficult to justify being fully prepared
This is bad I agree but could have been much worse as vast majority of people survive and recover

I think on this issue avftt is very representative.

The vast majority, right and left, Brexit and Remain, think it’s wholly unacceptable behaviour.

You can pretend it’s solely a party political issue but you just make yourself look a bit daft.

But crack on if you wish.

Oh I'll crack on alright. The bait's barely hit the water and the fume is already building to epic proportions.

Ah. Realise you've completely misread the mood of the nation, never mind AVFTT and play the fishing line. Ok. If it makes you feel better.
The mood of the nation clichΓ© gets rolled out. Surprise surprise! Whatever the mood of the nation is, I'm totally entitled to my own opinion, even if it differs from the 'mood of the nation'. And if you've been reading through all these threads on the Cummings fiasco, you'll have seen exactly what my opinion is. But just in case you haven't seen it, do you want me to copy across what I said on a previous thread? Will that make you feel better? Or would it maybe make you two look dumb?
