Ultimately we can debate formations, style and substitutions all day. The thing for me is that like for like, the team put together for Critch to coach, just isn’t as good as the team from 2020.
Very few of the chosen 11 would replace the players we had in the promotion season. We know that recruitment is done in a manner where Critchley states what he needs and the recruiting team goes and gets that type of player (as opposed to specific player albeit I am sure that has happened too). Finances are discussed and it goes to SS to sign off.
He then has to coach that team to success.
Whilst on ‘tactics’ - our press is nowhere near as good as in 2020. We would lose possession and hunt like demons to win it back. Often it left us exposed or short of numbers at the back but it caused teams so much disruption that players like CJ, Keshi and Yates had space in behind to use pace and counter.
