Portsmouth at home is winnable, and Posh away, they'll think they can turn us over. Just the sort of game we'd win in the championship.54 points left to play for. FTW!
You do realise that there are another 5 teams thinking this that already have a head start on usCan definitely catch Pompey.
I do. Those five teams are not Blackpool FC. I don't share your sense of doom. We can catch teams above us. How many, I don't know. You do realise that there are another 5 teams thinking this that already have a head start on us

Stark reality? I think it's just your reality. Teams often make up the gap we have above us. Several pints ahead of us. Several! It isn't a sence of doom.
It's stark reality.
Yes, we may catch teams above us but it's obviously more difficult with those teams already several points ahead of us.
We have made it difficult for ourselves with having the start to the season we had and our awful away form.
sorry they haven't any tangerine ones.Stark reality? I think it's just your reality. Teams often make up the gap we have above us. Several pints ahead of us. Several!
We've come from further back than this before and weve just won three consecutive league games and drawn home and away with a Prem side. We are 4 points off the play offs! Tinted specs not necessary.sorry they haven't any tangerine ones.

Winning the championship is a tall order when we, are in the division belowI've got £10 each way at 40-1 for your lot to win Championship. Each way pays top 3 so you better bleddy do it.
Of course teams will drop points. Bolton lost today and Derby drew. You seem to have forgotten all the times we've caught up in the past.View attachment 18043
I understand we are only 4 points off the playoffs, however, both Oxford and Barnsley have games in hand. They play each other, so if they draw that and win their other game in hand they'll both be 8 points clear. If they draw and lose the other match they'll still be 5 points clear.
I'd much rather be in Stevenages position at the moment.
All we can do is try to keep winning and hope the teams above us falter.
No matter how optimistic you are Voy, you are still hoping others slip up.
I haven't but that also isn't a given it will happen again.Of course teams will drop points. Bolton lost today and Derby drew. You seem to have forgotten all the times we've caught up in the past.
Neither am I! I think we'll make the top six though. Very good chance.I haven't but that also isn't a given it will happen again.
I sincerely hope it does but I'm not pinning all my hopes on it.
It would be great to lay that ghost to rest.Remember when we were about 20 points in front of Oxford and they pipped us to 2nd place?
Do l 95/96 season and we all know how that season endedRemember when we were about 20 points in front of Oxford and they pipped us to 2nd place?
We can only influence our own games. What other teams do is completely out of our hands, and I won't be hoping for certain results. It never happens that way.All ifs buts and maybes. There's a few fixtures on tuesday, See how it looks after then. One game at a time and that's when we're not playing too.
We did. 2007 and 2010.It would be great to lay that ghost to rest.
I mean an automatic rather than playoffs! We did. 2007 and 2010.
think we're capable of winning every game but equally so we are capable of losing every game. You just never know before kick off what you are gonna get. In effect we could win those first three Feb games and lose the last one. As it stands at this point in time I'd say automatic is out of reach. So for now one game at a time then have a look, and that includes when we are not playing like this tuesday but a few of the teams above us are.I think Derby for automatic, with Posh or Bolton.
Our fixtures look very tough for February and March. 12 games, 8 of which are away from home.
Stevenage Posh Oxford Bolton Orient in Feb.
Kinell....!
One game at a time, always. Just focus on the here and now. Let the future take care of itself. I'm surprised how tough our Feb and March are though. We need to be really on it, focused, tight and the back and clinical up front etc.think we're capable of winning every game but equally so we are capable of losing every game. yeah, it's Oxford v Barnsley tomorrow so hopefully a draw which puts those two teams back to 53 in your table.Flawed I know as I appreciate teams will play each other but if they win those games in hand this is what the top 7 would look like:
Bolton 60
Posh 58
Pompey 56
Derby 56
Barnsley 55
Oxford 55
Stevenage 52
That puts us 10 points behind the play off places, 13 away from automatic and 15 from top. We are going to have to really pick up our away form and win most of our games against these teams to drag ourselves into the promotion pack. Possible but going to be a huge ask.
That's not going to happen though. There are games between them, like Ox v Barn tomorrow, and we've got home games against Barnsley, Oxford and Bolton to come too. You say tough, I'd say an opportunity to close the gap. Beat those teams and the others are running scared. One game at a time, always. Just focus on the here and now. 8 away games of the 12. Not ideal given out home and away records. We look comfortable at home but much less so at home. From my armchair at least. You're much more close up obviously. You say tough, I'd say an opportunity to close the gap. Beat those teams and the others are running scared.
Think Saturday saw a shift in the mentality away, helped by Bristol not sitting back. We went at them from the off and found space to counterattack. I think they'll build on it and start getting results away. Just need the home form to hold up and we'll be OK.8 away games of the 12. Not ideal given out home and away records. I did mention that before the table and even the games that aren't against each other won't all result in 3pts. It does however serve as a worst case scenario and highlight the task in hand. The home games against Oxford, Barnsley, Portsmouth and Bolton are huge, we probably need to take 9 or 10pts. Saturday was a huge boost and with a week to recover (as opposed to Charton who play Tuesday) we need to absolutely go for it, we cannot afford a Northampton like slip up if we are to kick on.That's not going to happen though. There are games between them, like Ox v Barn tomorrow, and we've got home games against Barnsley, Oxford and Bolton to come too. It won't be easy but it can be done.
every game is tough but you're right about the mentality thing. I'm not saying we should go gung ho, especially away from home but we just need to start on the front foot a bit more with a quicker tempo. Getting that first goal has been key to every away game this season bar Oxford. Get it early and we've got enough quality to dictate games.Think Saturday saw a shift in the mentality away, helped by Bristol not sitting back. The tough games for me are more Shrewsbury and Cheltenham away and such like, where they'll sit back, even at home. We need to be sharp for thst one. I'm less worried about playing Stevenage, Posh, Oxford and Bolton.
I think they need to have the attitude that the game is winnable from the off, not the silence the home crowd, or keep it tight. Just go out and win the game.every game is tough but you're right about the mentality thing.
