‘Football is cyclical son’

1999. The words of my dad, to his then 10/11 year old son when I asked him about when Blackpool (relegated from Div 2) would once again be on the up instead of Preston (champions Div 2).

Since then we’ve had the heights of the Prem whilst they’ve struggled, however now we find ourselves at a juncture that feels different. The wounds of our recent history have galvanised our fan base, whilst theirs is now crumbling.

This quote from lancs live sums it up. Yes I’m sure there will be bumps on the way, but it certainly looks like we’re heading in different t directions…

‘A harsh winter is on the horizon. There is an avalanche of discontent at Deepdale and the Lilywhites must ensure they are the fittest in order to survive it. Because off the field apathy shows no sign of disappearing anytime soon. And the second that starts to creep on to the pitch and into the dressing room, it's trouble time.’

Totally agree with this and thank God for it. All those amazing trips to Wembley etc wouldn't have happened if we'd been a 'Crystal Palace' .. what a dull and mundane existence they must lead as fans. More than happy to yo-yo up and down - makes the good times even better.

Yeah it shouldn't be forgotten that while it feels like we're going in opposite directions, it only takes the right managerial appointment for them to start to turn things around. Hope it doesn't happen but I'm enjoying the bragging rights while they last, be that months or years. They're still in the same division as us.

They are shit though. 2-0 🤣

True, however finding the ‘right’ appointment is quite the challenge when the environment simply isnt right. Look at us post Ollie. You would argue it took from 2012-2017 (Bowyer) until things started to turn - and even then it’s only 12 games into last season we really started to click!
