Just can't see this being true.Jerry wanted to go to Swansea. There were higher bids but he didn’t want to go there so the club acquiesced to his wishes to ensure the sale happened and the player got his wish.
Some may say player power is ridiculous others may call it rewarding his loyalty but either way, it’s a much lower fee than it should have been.
He had two more years left on his deal and the club had already rejected a 2.5m bid for him in June, I find it unlikely that the club then turned around and allowed him to walk for that amount purely because we wanted to honor his wishes.
2.5m up front with MASSIVE and favorable add-ons might be true, but ultimately no one will have any clue and with the facts on the table I think it's most likely that we maximized the fee received for him.
