£15 for a Friendly?

Once again, sadly, the club have priced themselves out with a £15 charge for a meaningless training session. When we literally watch every penny in the supermarket to try and get within a £50 shopping budget each week, no way could I justify paying £15 for a game with no consequences. This board (not Sadler) do have a bit of a greedy streak.

For the record, £10 is plenty. That said costs need to be covered and as friendlies go, this one is pretty good; a Lancashire club in the Prem at home. If I weren't exiled I'd be there.

So your family would starve if you thought a game meant something .
The notion that £15 means more to some than others is a reasonable thought. The justification for a 'run around' would be harder to some.

Personally, if I was in charge of these things I'd experiment by making a friendly pay what you want. I'm sure most of the uber fans on here would gladly pay £20 and not £15 or 10.

Some have to realise that getting good players in on decent contracts, getting the stadium upto spec, relaying the pitch etc comes at a price🤷‍♂️
Maybe the Oystons should have stayed at least it'd only been a tenner.
However, it wouldn't be so inspiring to see a team sheet with.

Are the players taking less money because it’s a friendly ?

I don’t think £15 to watch live professional sport involving teams who ordinarily compete in the toughest leagues in the world is expensive .

From what I’ve seen of friendlys they are not a mere kick about .

However friendlys admittedly don’t have the extra buzz league games do but the costs I would imagine of putting the spectacle on are pretty much the same as a league game I would imagine .

I can never get the big kick off about pre season matches if there not your thing fine dont go if you fancy it pop on down and watch a bit of footy against a good side most people have not seen a live game in over a year and we quibble about a fiver ive said it before Blackpool fc is not a charity massive overheads for these clubs from the steward to the kit man they all want paying and im sorry to say the bulk of it has to come from us it is what it is.

Its probably about half the price we would pay if we came up against Burnley in a competitive match so 15 for a friendly seems reasonable to me.

It might be a 'fair price' or only a 'fiver more'

But the facts are that hardly anybody has bought a ticket for this match

Sales from home fans weren't great for the Rangers game either

So that tells me that either people aren't bothered about going to these friendly games or that the prices are too expensive

On the whole i think the board has made a miss judgment on all the recent ticket announcements

£28 for home games, a season ticket increase from last season and now these friendly prices

All too high in my opinion

Lets not forget several thousand people bought season tickets last season and didn't get to one single game

And before people bang on about what other clubs do, they also mostly fail with their pricing as well so its completely irrelevant

Prices too high ? It’s all a matter of opinion isn’t it. I understand people are a bit skint but ffs how much live football have you watched in the last 16 months or so ? Burnley at home ( who happen to be a North west rival ) for £15, let’s have it. WTF is a Fiver, you can barely get a pint for that in some pubs these days. UTMP🍊🧡

Fans aren't bothered the only time I've seen it busy recently ish was for Keith Southern and that was a third empty.

I generally don't bother with friendlies so the pricing doesn't bother me. The last one I watched was Southern's testimonial and the only one I bothered with before that was Athletic Bilbao (I think) years ago

It's an interesting one. Only the north and west open. TinyTractor would want his ST seat, so we won't be going. Hardly any sales. I think for a lot of people, it's still a bit soon to be going to a completely non-socially distanced football match post-lockdown. I think people will go for a competitive match, but for a friendly, it's possibly considered not really necessary.
I know this post will get the "got to get on, live your lives, outdoors is safe" etc responses. But the majority of people are still wearing masks in shops and other indoor places, and people are still being cautious. There's ongoing talk about requiring vaccination for Premier League matches. You would expect the EFL to follow if it's put in place.

Well that’s not going to go down too well in a fortnight when there a nearly a full North stand. Or will people not go that have bought season tickets ? Only asking.

I dunno. I think people are becoming less nervous as time goes on. But I personally have an attitude of "Do I REALLY need to go there?" and make a balanced decision. A league match in my own seat is completely different from a meaningless friendly.

Moan, moan, moan.
If it was £5 people would say it was too cheap.
We never have and never will attract many fans to a pre-season friendly.
I'm looking forward to seeing a live game of football so I'll be there.
(Have you seen how much those Bristol City tickets are? Bloody ridiculous. I'm going to write to my MP. 😉)

Is everybody failing to realise that the O/P wants to attend but is possibly struggling to afford it ? A bit of empathy wouldn't go amiss.
I sympathise with that of course. Anyone who is struggling for money through no fault of their own has my sympathy. The bit I don’t get as Dumfries pointed out is that the OP indicates that if the game were meaningful he WOULD pay to go and watch......but his finances wouldn’t have changed would they?

I too fully accept that £15 is a lot of money to some people.
I don't however think the solution is to charge everyone £5.

If you want a club that actually functions as football club then prices will go up, at least you know where the money is going.

I'm sorry if you can't afford it, that sucks, but the club can't operate effectively on charity.

A fiver is obviously ** laughable Phillip, the club would probably make a loss.

give over Phil. If you want to pay that for your football, Go and watch Squires Gate.
Its not about what i want to pay

Its about what the good people of Blackpool would pay for a friendly and the proof is in the pudding

Very low sales

As for me i wouldn't go to a midweek home friendly if you paid me

So you want the club to lose money on it? Do you think charging a fiver would put three times on the gate for, as you say, a midweek friendly?

Do you think the club might have costed it against what they expect to sell for a midweek friendly, that you couldn't be arsed with, to at least meet their costs?

If we lose money on this would that impact the playing budget for a squad that you have positively (as ever) predicted is 'miles away from a Championship side'? Didn't you want the club to 'break the bank' on players, what's paying for that then considering we've still got a shit load to invest everywhere else? Thanks to the previous owners we're not exactly starting from a level playing field, in fact the playing field is Squires ** Gate.

Sometimes I think the Oystons had the right idea just ripping everyone off, it's not like owners can ever win with some.

I remember back in the late 1970s going to some preseason game at Deepdale. Was possibly part of some irrelevant preseason tournament.

We were in the Town End, and the only other fans were on their old Kop. And that was it. Until some of them somehow got round the east stand or whatever it was called and started lobbing bricks into the Town End. Twas a tad different then. But still irrelevant as a game.

..which is what I said. Whatever the price very few will go so you may as well get a few extra quid off those that actually enjoy watching the squad get ready for the season and are fortunate enough to be able to afford to do so.
