I've never taken to Rod as a solo performer that much. The Faces, however, were great. Not necessarily the ‘Best Frontman Ever’, as I’d have to agree that Freddie Mercury has it by a country mile, but an honourable mention for Rod Stewart, who always put on a cracking show when leading the glorious musical shambles that was The Faces.
Yes Noddy was always overlooked and underestimated as a front man. I was lucky to see Slade live a few times and he was superb.Mercury probably wins it but I've got to go for Noddy Holder.
Sweet Gene Vincent you mean surely?Buddy Holly, Gene Vincent
The old story has it that Gene Vincent was on the bill at a big impresario's show. As he went on stage the impresario was in the wings hissing at his star..."limp you bastard, limp!"Sweet Gene Vincent you mean surely?

In 1955 Vincent had a motorbike accident and should have lost his leg. He refused amputation but from then on wore a metal sheaf around his leg. The anecdote is based on the impresario wanting a 'sympathy for the cripple' story.Sorry, don’t get it?….I am thick though so don’t worry
One of my favourites. Lennon did a good job on it on his1975, Rock n' Roll album but the atmosphere on the original is only matched by Presley's Heartbreak Hotel.“Be Bop a Lula” is a fantastic generationally important song written by Gene when he was about 20 …1956
