Boris Johnson

I pity you as it is on obvious you have been brainwashed with your left wing vile. I cannot understand why the moderates accept tor vile posts.
1887. By the way the F1 driver is Lewis Hamilton. I can only assume Louise is his sister šŸ˜‚

No Iā€™m not a mod. Itā€™s just that I saw the thread before it was deleted.

For the record, I am not particularly enamoured with Boris / Dom and the peerages they have dished out to their mates and business associates. I haven't really dug into it but I am sure there may be some deserving cases in there but, understandably, the dodgier one's grab the headlines and attract the left wing lynch mobs.

It doesn't make it right but it's hardly a shock as this has been going on as long as I can remember - Wilson, Callaghan, Thatcher, Blair, Cameron, May (and others) all rewarded some of their mates / family / associates with gongs and peerages.

Equally, I am not a huge fan of the way this government operates at times - to my mind they were the lesser of 2 evils at the last election.

What I really find depressing is the "I'm right, you're wrong and I won't even listen to your arguments because you are an idiot if you disagree with me" sneering style of politics. The complete lack of introspection by some people is scary - Trump is the undoubted master of this but there are a number of (mainly left wing) posters on here who behave that like. When the going gets tough just throw some abuse. If we are honest with ourselves, we have probably all been guilty of that at times.
You may be surprised to hear that I agree with you about the lesser of two evils. But that doesnā€™t mean the current government gets a green card to crack on (which you seem to acknowledge).

And while I agree all governments do dubious things I donā€™t sign up to the cynical ā€œall politicians are bentā€ school of thought.

As to whether Johnson is worse than his predecessors, all Iā€™ll say is that there are a lot of worrying signs. And thatā€™s after I factor in that he and Cummings want to shake up the current order, which will always cause disruption and unhappiness.

I quite like Mavericks and Disruptors; so long as they are trying to improve the common good. If they are just out for themselves Iā€™m less enamoured.

This latest episode highlights the ridiculous nature of peerages and the honours system in general. Nobody should get a peerage just because they are good at their job. Even less so because they're married to someone who's good at their job. Using the system as an incentive for political endorsement is disgraceful. The sooner the system is scrapped the better. In fact, the sooner the House of Lords is disbanded the better.

And I agree with your sentiment re Cummings - if he can improve things for the common good then bring it on.

However I fear he is from the same school of unelected ego maniacs that Alistair Campbell graduated from.

Time will tell I guess

The era of Cummings will be something we look back on in wonder in times to come. It's a very similar phenomenon to that of Trump, really, where the anti-Establishment faction take over and try to trash all the institutions they don't understand and are incapable of using properly.

One does have to wonder what sort of individual sneaks on in the middle of the night just to insult and denigrate a profession that does more benefit to society than most and is full of hard working, caring individuals who want to give the children of this nation the best start in life possible. He is clearly ignorant of the role of a teacher.

You should know about laziness if youā€™re a teacher. 3 months holiday, inset days, strike days and then complain about kids missing education. Sheer hypocrisy.
Why don't you enter the debate instead of launching personal attacks on posters? I don't care what Cat does, it's completely irrelevent because the thread is not about Cat or teachers in general but instead it is about government corruption. It doesn't matter if Cat is lazy, on strike or constantly complaining about missed education because it is totally irrelevent. Anyone would think that the 'play the man not the ball brigade' were unable to form a coherent argument on the subject of the thread.
I have to add that Cat is particularly brilliant at rooting out these people, he has them on a leash. Another ton in the offing for Lara on a nice flat pitch.

Itā€™s not a personal attack, itā€™s an attack on teachers in general. If thereā€™s a cloud in the sky, close the schools it might snow. If it rains hard, close the schools it might flood. Just close them completely, we might have a nuclear attack. Double the teachers wages, that will be of great benefit to the children. I could go on but I donā€™t want you swivel eyed lefties having a complete breakdown.

But "delusional" is subjective in matters of politics, is it not?

So no "duty of care" is therefore likely to be necessary.

And, with respect, I assume the word you were groping for was "accusatory" rather than "accusative"?

Nice that you feel the need to dob him in with the mods though, just because his view does not tally with your own.

Have you read 1984?

All ministers are as are most people in a position of powerI have voted Conservative most of my life but always liked and respected the Labour MP Frank Field. A man of principle

EU is corrupt more like. šŸ‡¬šŸ‡§
So you don't care less about corruption if it is good old British corruption.
This government is more corrupt than the EU just you choose not to see it. Try giving evidence to support your bigoted view next time. I reeled off 4 times Boris Johnson has passed off money to his mates and the whole thread is because he's passed off jobs for life to people who backed the IRA, payrolled his leadership campaign and other assorted sycophants.

You've not been in a school since you were 16, have you.

Track and trace hasnā€™t been introduced properly as they havenā€™t decided yet which family member should get the contract

And schools very, very rarely closed. None of us drowned or froze to death and I cannot remember teachers ever going on strike. My generation is also far more educated than any since. Just as an extra, we didnā€™t need examination standards reducing to get our O levels either.

As you're online, go ahead, knock yourself out and do a Maths test paper. Bet you don't get the A* that you think is so easy.

Reading apparently not your best subject. The inference was not easy, easier.
I wasn't inferring anything, as in if you think it's so easy, have a go. I would have used so much easier if that was what I meant.

Get an A* in English if it's so easy...

Now whoā€™s resorting to personal insults.

Just fighting fire with fire. You had a gratuitous swipe at thousands of very hard working people, and offered no evidence whatsoever to back your remarks up. You'll always get challenged on here if you do that. Especially if you stick your chin out and ask for it.

if you want a debate about how the education system badly needs reforming, I'm with you all the way. But the people at the sharp end are not to blame for that.

We looked at a Chemistry paper from the 1950 school certificate exams that a colleague found when clearing out documents from their parents home. As a group of A level teaching chemists our thoughts were
It was very much a fact or procedure based exam with little application and no evaluation was required.
Apart from writing balanced equations and calculating concentrations, both of which are still required for todays GCSE the majority of the paper could be rote learned.
It did not test practical skills or methodology at all unlike the current examination.
There were no comparing evidence questions to develop conclusions, any conclusions required were based only on the experimental evidence provided.I
We felt that at the higher levels 7-9 the current GCSE actually demanded greater skills and understanding than this "golden age" paper.
However we did recognise that even many of our brightest students would have struggled to access the paper due to the language used in the questions which technically was far more demanding than now- modern science exams look to differentiate between students in the level of scientific language they use when answering questions rather than their understanding of the question being asked.
I would also add that since the new GCSE courses were introduced in 2016 the demands on students are far greater- aspects are taught in GCSE Science/Chemistry that I did not study until A level back in the O level 80s.

Your grammar is, appalling.

Thank God youā€™re not a teacher.

Nah!!

The correct way was ā€œyour grammar is appallingā€.

You threw in a random comma.

Now you see, this is why the country has gone to the dogs. People thinking they can throw commas around; willy nilly!!!!!

No. Youā€™re just trying to take your anger out on me.

Relax, save your abuse and frustration for those who deserve it.

Peace and love šŸ˜˜.

I think your post says more about you than it does about teachers.

And in today s news from this corrupt government.
The Tory chief whip ignores rape allegations about a Conservative MP and allows him to remain in his position.
The government scraps it's promise to test everyone in care homes as the numbers of covid 19 cases are on the rise again once again abandoning the most vulnerable in society.
And 20s will no doubt claim that I am hate filled for pointing out the contempt our Tory rulers have for the general public.

Innocent until proven guilty is it not? Has he been charged?

Allegations is the key word. But you've got this disgusting agenda, and as for you being a teacher, I wouldn't want you and your vile comments/thoughts anywhere near a child of mine.

He's been questioned, charged and released on bail. If that were me, I'd be suspended from work, at the very least. As an MP, and therefore a public servant, I'm amazed that doesn't apply. I'm not saying name him, I'm saying he shouldn't be involved in parliamentary matters until the verdict is in.

Today he put his own brother, a former boss, a billionaire Tory donor a former aide and a brexiteer cricketer in the House of Lords for life. On average these jobs for life will cost British taxpayers Ā£1.1 million per year based on average claims.
Meanwhile he's also looking for a Ā£100,000 per year spokesperson so the lazy incompetent buffoon has to face even less public scrutiny than at the present.
Just try to let this mockery of democracy sink in and get through the blindness of cognitive dissonance.
So you are not a fan thenšŸ˜ŠšŸ˜ŠšŸ¤£

I donā€™t believe heā€™s been charged.

I think if he is charged it is then in the public domain and we will know who it is. He was arrested, interviewed and released on bail from what I understood. If he is charged then I think the whip gets withdrawn, although in the case of Charlie Elphick it was reinstated by TM for a vote of no confidence in her

I never knew Boris worked for his brother and that he was loaded AND he played cricket for Brexit.

You have to hand it to Teacher...you learn something new every day.

Thatā€™s correct.

It is now Tuesday. The thread was started on Friday 5 days ago.
Evidence was provided to support the proposition that Boris Johnson is a corrupt Prime Minister.
MPs such as Chris Bryant, former political advisors and nationally recognised recognised journalists have attacked the awards and made the connection about lecturing other countries about democracy and corruption in nationally published articles and on Twitter without issue.
Yet somebody in the more team decided tonight AFTER 5 DAYS that the title was unacceptable. Why was the decision made and importantly why now?

Wow! That is an incredibly ignorant post. Congratulations!

Don't worry yourself too much Cat. Trammo seems like one of those who can't see anything good in the EU and anything bad about the UK. Ignorant. Just for the record, there is corruption in the EU but that doesn't make it corrupt. There is also corruption at Westminster but that doesn't mean that it's corrupt either.
