I agree, not a bad player at all. No frills but good distribution of the ball .I stand by my comment when Critchley first returned that I’d be happy with this. He was solid in a team that survived comfortably in the Championship. He defends and attacks. Can put in a decent cross and has a good set piece. He’s not Josh Bowler but he is something we’re desperately in need of.
That’s why Critchley likes him, the decent touch is a bit of a bonus. The main attribute for Critchley is no pace. He's basically the other end of the 'flawed winger' spectrum to CJ... all touch and no pace.
Yet he's played CJ in every game who's only attribute is pace??That’s why Critchley likes him, the decent touch is a bit of a bonus. The main attribute for Critchley is no pace.
I wouldn’t say he did nothing at Crewe.Boring, dull, bottom of the barrel signing who’s not done anything of note anywhere else.
Why are we half arsing it again
Topped the league in assists irc year we went up. Or close anyway...I wouldn’t say he did nothing at Crewe.
He was ok for us, but his time in league one was excellent, as is with a lot of our squad.
So was Feeney but he got over 10 assists for us.An undisputed football genius upon who our fortunes will doubtless turn as he quite slowly goes down the left, doesn't really beat anyone and if conditions are right (i.e. he's in acres of space throughout the time he has the ball) whips a perfect ball in.
I actually quite like him despite the above.
It's the most predictable thing ever tho.
getting Longman will be the problemI know it would be right footed on the left side again, but Kirk would be a good LWB. And he is naturally a left sided player.
Get Longman on the opposite and all of a sudden we’d have some serious League One creativity.
I was just about to say the same .What’s the point in having Jordan Rhodes if you don’t find him. Kirk will be ideal. The CB’s will score a few more from set pieces too.
Agreed. But it would be nice. Hopefully it is the plan - we have two wide players to fall back on then if 352 does fail.getting Longman will be the problem

It’s a bit Moneyball, but we are struggling under this formation and management, so if he fits that style then ok.
I’ve a horrible feeling this isn’t going to end well though.
I’m always wary about these “Blackpool about to sign” articles online, we never seem to sign a player when the interest has become public and then the club want more money, or the player gets offered to half a dozen other teams etc.getting Longman will be the problem
lol, it made me chuckle when Gnands went to play in some European league despite getting about 12 goals for us in league one. We should’ve marketed him as being the next Ronaldo. Missed a trick thereFair point well made. Feendog was decent in that respect for sure. Led the entire country in assists at one point didn't he?
Feeding Super Gnands.
GET GNANDS BACK!!!!
Believe it was the Turkish 2nd Division tbf so not a huge jump in class - but definitely more money (although not sure he actually got paid!)). But after his spell there and a brief time at Hearts he’s settled well back in France. I understand he was top goal scorer and got a move up a division the Ligue 2lol, it made me chuckle when Gnands went to play in some European league despite getting about 12 goals for us in league one. I fear the worst with players with only a few minutes on the pitch signing for us, especially when put straight onto the subs bench. They are injuries waiting to happen.Only problem with Kirk is, his fitness. Has played fuck all games for Charlton this season as in minutes. He's not fitted for a wing back role, hasn't the stamina
It would of course go horribly wrong in the medical room and we'd get CJ's technical ability and Kirk's pace. And a flat head with Kirk's face on the front and CJ's on the back.Perhaps Critch is looking to fuse him and CJ together to create a Frankenstein winger?
With CJ’s pace and Kirk’s technical ability we’d have an unstoppable player on our hands..

Aye. Perhaps with 'Kirk to Rhodes' we'll create a kind of time machine effect?Long time ago that.

Feels like we'll sign Kirk cos we've no awareness of other possible options. Scouting seems pretty minimal?
How many times do a set of fans slate a player and then that players goes on to do well? Sometimes a players just doesn't suit a club and that's all their is too it. I thought he was decent for us in the Championship. He isn't a flashy player, but he had a good cross on him, gets into good positions, rarely gives the ball away and is decent with set pieces. It's not a wow signing, but I'm not unhappy with it.Reaction from charlton fans tells you all you need to know , just reminder they finished 10th last season 0 ambition from the club again View attachment 16385
We seem to be targeting players that will get us out of 3-5-2 so I'm praying that it's a sign we will be moving on from that asap.If we sign Kirk and it means we start playing 442, I'm all for it, because this 352 has to go.
And, just to introduce another variation to this insightful observation, would it not be fair to make the point that, through a bizarre twist, because of the 'limitations' in his game, Blackpool home fans, in their utter bewilderment, and amongst a host of other grievances, are also starting to complain of being totally 'floored' by the decision to maintain CJ's place in the matchday starting line-up ...He's basically the other end of the 'flawed winger' spectrum to CJ... all touch and no pace.
It would be if he used it.Yet he's played CJ in every game who's only attribute is pace??
