Ciaran Donnelly is going to be made Director of Football according to Nixon. He's been doing well as academy director so why not give him a go.
Didn't say he would be,said he was on the shortlistIsn’t this Nixon who said Critch will be our next manager? He may be right… he’s often not?
Is he though? Think he was right about Rosenior, the club clearly went for him but it fell through I think, probably why we ended up with Appleton to avoid the process restarting. Think he called McCarthy.Nixon is usually wrong on managerial changes.
Nixon was just following the betting markets there, and that was being driven by the Derby fans following the collapse of the takeover. Is he though? He's got some things right, some may be playing the percentages.Nixon was just following the betting markets there, and that was being driven by the Derby fans following the collapse of the takeover.
The club really did think Appleton was the better choice.
Is this the same role as sporting director that Badlan was in? As it seems they are often the same thing?
I like the idea of promoting from within as you know what you're getting.
Like with Dobbie, you know all about them and have seen them operate up close.
It's a good point, but we still have the actual other Cov guy who's a scout AFAIK.Would any of us be clamouring for Ciaran Donnelly as Director of Football or Dobbie as Head Coach if they weren't already at the club?
I do hope we are exhausting all possibilities for both roles, otherwise it just smacks of going for the cheap and convenient options.
The answer is noI don’t really get this. The head of academy role is completely different. Does Donnelly even have a background in scouting, recruitment etc?
Nixon is usually wrong, period.Nixon is usually wrong on managerial changes.
Cos Phil knows everything! The answer is no
So far Nixon has been certain about Critchley, Paul Hurst and Graham Alexander. Money well spent on a patreon account....Isn’t this Nixon who said Critch will be our next manager? He may be right… he’s often not?
Well he isn't a scout is he?Cos Phil knows everything!
Nixon has only mentioned Critchley, Charlie and Wellens on the shortlist not Hurst or AlexanderSo far Nixon has been certain about Critchley, Paul Hurst and Graham Alexander. Money well spent on a patreon account....
Mentioned them last week.Nixon has only mentioned Critchley, Charlie and Wellens on the shortlist not Hurst or Alexander
Where?Mentioned them last week.

I guess we'll see with this one, as haven't seen this mentioned anywhere else.
No idea, it's probably usually agents though in a lot of cases.I can't see who might be ITK on this and be willing to leak to Nixon at the same time.
SS, BM & CD are the only people who "need" to know at this stage, they're not going to leak, beyond that, maybe a secretary, external lawyers, I can't see them leaking either.
Possibly, if CD has an agent, he might leak, but does he have one and if he does would he be happy with that?
Nixon is usually just wrong!Nixon is usually wrong on managerial changes.
No idea, it's probably usually agents though in a lot of cases.
Yeah it is a bit odd, I guess we'll see if its true. With players, yes, the agent and the selling club wants to try to drum up as much interest as possible in the hope of a better deal for the player and a higher fee for the club, but who's going to do that for our academy director, it's not as if Tottenham are going to swoop in and snatch him from us (although the way things are going that might not be the worst idea for them).
Also, at managerial level, there's an expectation of confidentiality from all involved, I wouldn't want my first act as DoF to be a breach of confidence, and I doubt CD would either.
I can maybe see Scrafton getting a heads-up before the official announcement, but what anyone gains from letting Nixon know is beyond me.
Unlikely to be Dobbie's current career path, IMO.Or it leaves a vacancy as Academy Director for Dobbie when a new manager is appointed
Ciaran doesn't currently coach.Well he isn't a scout is he?
He's a youth coach and a very good one at that
Director of football is a completely different role to the one he's been doing
I know what he is now but his experience has been in coaching so no need to be pedanticCiaran doesn't currently coach.
He's swapped his track suit for an M&S suit and is the Academy Director.
I struggle sometimes with what you know and what you pretend to know but nevertheless not everyone is quite so knowledgeable about Ciaran's role so my comment is more for their benefit than yours.I know what he is now but his experience has been in coaching so no need to be pedantic
I'm left wondering what the Academy Director actually does.Ciaran doesn't currently coach.
He's swapped his track suit for an M&S suit and is the Academy Director.
Stab in the dark but I reckon he directs the Academy coaches…I'm left wondering what the Academy Director actually does.
Yeah it is a bit odd, I guess we'll see if its true.
If not then it's a bit of a random curveball rumour. If it's right then how has the info got out.
It's quite a big job actually.I'm left wondering what the Academy Director actually does.
To do what exactly?Stab in the dark but I reckon he directs the Academy coaches…
He's responsible for the overall running of the Academy.I'm left wondering what the Academy Director actually does.
So if he's been doing that, (amongst other things) looking to source the best young talent from around the uk for the academy, he will surely have a well established network of contacts at clubs, as well as using the clubs infrastructure and we also have the cov scout still plus more I'd imagine?
You sound like Mick McCarthy. To do what exactly?
You take the under-12s, he can do the under-13's etc......... excellent, job done for another year!
Could it get any worse, yes indeed it could, my abiding memory of MickYou sound like Mick McCarthy.
Maybe CD can get a tune out of our scouting network...?You sound like Mick McCarthy.
