Will Goodwin.

He was a handful and largely fed off scraps. That said his first was at least a yard offside and the less said about the defending and Grimmy for his 2nd, the better.

and their no 14 who came on at half time ran the show in midfield where he had acres of space. Helped of course by the fact our midfield sat so deep barely being just a few yards in front of our back line. Critchley being his usual quiet self on the toucchline.

Dembele was supposed to be picking him up from what I could see which he was unable or perhaps unwilling to do. Hence his substitution. He had much less of the ball following the substitutions.

well, I'm glad you noticed it too. Is it stating the obvious that asking Dembele to do any sort of marking is pretty pointless. As i said, we really sat far too deep in that second half.

Which is exactly what I said after Saturdays game of why I wouldn’t have started him away at Oxford.
He doesn’t offer defensive work in midfield so when we play him we have to accept we will get over run against good midfields who pass it around well.
Against counter attack teams or defensive teams he’s our ace card to open them up. Second half they flooded midfield and passed it around and Critch had no choice but to remove him and bolster midfield. Unfortunately Weir had a shocker and Carey was ineffective too so they piled on the pressure

I don’t get the ‘love in’ with Grimmy - yes he is a good young keeper with lots of potential but tonight I thought he had a shocker! He was at fault for both goals and for the second he was dreadfull. His distribution is ropey at times, he is too ponderous for me when playing and very rarely gets us on the counter attack quickly. I think we need to keep perspective here - he is at a lg1 club for a reason as after all Citeh deemed him not good enough! He may well develop into a top class keeper but he is far from that yet!

Just because he's not England/Champions League level, and at only 24, just means he's good enough to be a professional footballer.

What about his tip over in the first half or his two one on one saves on the second.....or his, is it 6 clean sheets this season?
He's good enough for the level he's playing at and will improve with age and experience.

I’ve never said he was not good enough to be a professional footballer. The 6 clean sheets are not solely down to Grimmy and both the one on one saves were relatively routine for a keeper of this level. I agree he will improve with age - keepers in particular generally do but, in my opinion, currently he is not the goalkeeping messiah that some make him out to be. He is a good to very good lg1 keeper but last night he had a shocker and should have done way way better with both goals.

2nd one looked like the goal scorer was that close to Grimshaw that there wasn’t much he could do

1st one I can’t tell if his positioning was wrong.

Distribution wise he’s pretty good for me, shouldn’t really be his job to be the midfield playmaker but that’s how it is at the moment😂

For the second goal there is no way he should be beaten at his near post. For the first from my view his positioning was all wrong .
 
2nd was a bad goal but it just looked like one of those messy situations.

Connolly is close to Grimshaw and the centre forward so maybe a bit of doubt in his head.

Could have gone towards the centre forward to block the ball possibly.

Never played in goals so not sure on that one.

1st one I think your right.
