Godfather 1 and 2 were masterpieces.

Godfather 3 could have been better if Coppolla didn't use nepotism to give his daughter the role, she was beyond awful. Also pacino was embarking on his over-acting phase. Basically shouting a lot!

Just looked up the ratings of the 3 films, which fully support the views posted:
Rotten Tomatoes Ratings were 98% for the first film, 97% for the second (my personal favourite), and 68% for the third
First book I ever read; the 1972 and 1974 films were excellent, the 1990 film perhaps a sequel too far
