Valuation on Rhodes in January

If we were to go in with a cheeky offer to Udders in January - what would you pitch the bid at - bearing in mind he's in the last year of his contract.

Makes you wonder if someone else would have a sniff if its just £200k? Strikers hard to come by and he’s proving his worth in League 1. If JCH went to Bristol Rovers, would Peterborough not fancy him for the remainder of 23/24, for example?

Ah that puts you guys in a very strong position then! What’s Huddersfield current forward line performing like tho? They just got battered the other night at home to Swansea ay?

They'd have to be in the north of England, he has said as much this week, so the only realistic threat to him leaving us is a Huddersfield recall or if he is eligible to play for another club Barnsley or Bolton.

Although he can sign for 3 clubs he can only play competitive football for 2 of them, so we are in the box seat.

250k at the absolute most, Rhodes at this point doesn’t care about money, he’s set for life and is simply enjoying his football.

We’re the only club who can guarantee that he continues to do that.

There’s not even a guarantee that Huddersfield recall him in January either, but if they do, give them 250k max or simply buy out the rest of his contract and offer him a 1+1.

Can’t see this being too hard.

Rhodes when asked said it's out of his hands. But he's going to want to state his preference given that his contract runs out in June, he has had about 7 frustrating years mostly out of the sides he's played for, often on the bench. And is finally getting the games and goals he should have been getting. Huddersfield didnt value him when they loaned him out. I know the head coach there has changed and they are struggling but taking him back against his wishes isn't really a brilliant idea I think.

What a load of bollux.

How the hell do you know he doesn't care about money??
We're the only team that can guarantee he continues to enjoy the game!! Really?

The only thing I agree with is that there isn't a guarantee that Huddersfield will recall him.

Think you're looking through tangerine tinted glasses with your first two points

Is he not on loan for the season ? Leave it it at that. If Huddersfield recall in January so be it.
If he doesn’t get recalled leave anything until the summer. If we don’t go up then offer Rhodes a one + one year contract (will be 34 then). If we are promoted then I would hope we are after a more Championship ready striker.

Jake Beesley will be ready to step up by then and take the Championship by storm.

I think JR is in the driving seat here, he has a contract with Huddersfield and it's unlikely we are covering all of his wages with him being a Championship striker. Huddersfield will get nothing for him in six months, I can see Huddersfield releasing him on a free to save on wages and then JR will be able to secure a longer deal on a good League One wage based on his performances with us so far. I would be very surprised if we paid a fee for him.

Has he actually played for Hudds this season? I don't believe so. If he was registered for them and didn't play then he can be registered for one more club after Hudds & Pool (max 3) and play for one more club (max 2). At least thats my understanding - so he could go to another club in Jan. Happy to be corrected.

Played for them in a cup match

Why not? You can play for a max of 3.
Players may be registered with a maximum of three clubs during one season. During this period, the player is only eligible to play official matches for two clubs.

See above - I was corrected in that he has played one cup game for Hudds.

250k if we have to pay championship wages or 500k if Hudders give him a 250k golden goodbye and we get the wages cheaper

If they continue to bomb and he continues to score surely that can only mean he goes back? It’s a no cost option to bring a striker in (except wages) for them

I’d love him to stay - I just can’t see it happening tbh
