Turton

Man of the match and probably our most consistent performer of the season

Decent point that considering they are a form team and our poor tactics gave them control

Don't get the Accrington love in from some of our fans either, bunch of moaning twats like their manager

Anyway should sign Dion Charles right handful and would count as homegrown

Turton brilliant today. Performance only marred by being caught out of position badly twice in the last 10 mins.
Fair play though, great display.

Never got the hatred towards Turton yes he was poor last season but it happens as where many.
Good solid player and don't get me started on those who say he's not good enough for the Championship group and should be getting a better player in I bet they would have posted the same about Baptiste.

BTW, good point today.

PS. Not many runs in this one Phil.

I would also give him man of the match. HE has certainly improved under Critchleys coaching. I also did not like they way they continually attempted to influence the ref. A very well earned point.

Turton certainly did well today, was missing in the first 10 mins at right back but more than made up for it. Garbutt looking very good as well

Ha

Hatreds an unfair word, there’s always opinions on players some good some bad.

I've been a critic but he was the right choice today. Played well.

Charles has been spot on every time he's played against us. He just makes stuff happen. Not the best finisher but he goes for everything and is really strong.

First time l saw Charles play against us l thought he was a real handful, and your right it’s everytime

He is by far our longest serving player, so a few managers, have rated him.
No one could ever fault his effort but got skinned by a few wingers in the past and it seemed to affect his confidence and he backed off when he should have tackled and that is the most improved area of his game. I would start talking to him with regard to a new contract but suspect if we got promoted he would be a useful squad player rather than an ever present

Have to agree with Phil. Turton was my MOM today and has been massively solid for the last 10/12 weeks.

Mr Reliable.

As for Accy - not really bothered. Did you watch / listen to the podcast last night? Was good of Holt to come on and fair play to the lads but he was hardly Mr Charming was he? Never really gave us any credit, chastised TAM for getting some info about them getting a new ground, twice ridiculed how "amazing" our squad must be to let Nottingham go, chastised us on his policing bill due to the "bottle" incident and rounded off saying they'd beat us 2-1.

I think I prefer him have a pop at the authorities on Twitter.

I saw Andy Holts interview as a good honest, no frills, very entertaining hour. How often do football chairmen come on and do that. About the bottle throwing he was justified about being peed off as it tripled? His policing bill, he's the man who pays the bills and every penny counts. He called the Oystons for what they were and gave us praise too.
Anyway, as re Turts yesterday and for a few games now, does an absolute job on the right. Comes across as a right nice down to earth lad too

So Mr Hindsight what tactics should we have played yesterday?
Don't disagree about Turton.
I don't think Dion Charles is the answer to our goal scoring problem. He's no more clinical that what we have already.
Interesting point about him being considered a club developed player. Not sure about that.

I think there was a case for 4 3 3 yesterday, we had no time on the ball in midfield and never got Hamilton into the game.
4 3 3 would have given us more bodies in there to counteract their system and would have put Hamilton beyond their fullback.
The question is would we have started with Yates or Madine, I would've gone Yates and tried not to play to the strengths of Accringtons back 3.

It was a good honest, hard earned point and there wasnt much to change...I wouldnt have played Virtue and Ward looked good when he came on but to be fair Dougall wasnt himself either...we needed to get Yates and CJ in the game and we just didnt manage to do that...the front 6 didnt work as a unit and the full backs were our best players

I said before the game I would have gone 3-5-2 but if Gretarsson was not available then clearly we couldn't play that system. It would have also meant that MOM Turts would have been on the bench.
At this point in time I would always start with Yates and Madine although the latter coming of the bench mid-week clearly worked.

This squad is screaming out for 3 5 2 at times BUT whilst we are on a good run there hasnt been the need to switch too much. I think we would be so much better to watch with the big 3 at the back and the two wing backs as Garbutt and Gabriel..

Think with us going 3 5 2 against a team that play it all the time is they will do it better than us because they are familiar with it.
Although I agree we probably do have the players to do it effectively if they can work on it.

I wasn't trying to "knock" him really Mull - I too thoroughly enjoyed it. My point was that whilst we seem to hold him up in esteem he just loves Accy and, as a die hard supporter just wants to stuff us.

433 or 4231 so we weren't outnumbered against a well drilled 352

If he wanted to play 442 he should have done so at home against a struggling Oxford

He's not going to get it right all the time but he needs to get it right most of the time.
All said and done it was a good point but maybe an opportunity missed to take all 3 as I thought they lacked real threat upfront.

Can't blame him for that. I like Accy.. Still want to stuff em on the pitch mind. A big physical team. Some have called them a horrible team etc but boy did they graft yesterday and I've always got grudging respect for hard as iron grafters

Agree with Giro69’s comments about our being outnumbered in midfield, and accordingly neve got the ball up to the front men. I don’t think CJ touched the ball for at least 20mins, and the service generally was almost non existent.
Accy bossed it for the first half hour, and their blind side runs gave us all sorts of trouble. This was a tough re-start for Virtue, who ran like a dervish, but mostly in defence.

Ollie Turton has been a consistent performer for Blackpool over the past three-and-a-half seasons.

The defender is a safe pair of hands for the Tangerines and could play a key part in any potential push for the Play-Offs they make this term.
Turton, who is 29 years old, signed a new one-year contract extension in July and Neil Critchley’s side will be hoping he does the same again in 2021.
As it stands he is due to become a free agent in June next year and the Tangerines will no doubt want to keep him at the club for longer.
Turton joined the Seasiders in 2017 and has since made 139 appearances for the club. He has helped them establish themselves in League One and will be looking to help his side rise into the top six.

He competes with Michael Nottingham for the right-back spot which gives Neil Critchley’s side some strong competition and depth in that position.

They won’t want to lose Turton for nothing next year and need to ensure they’re ready to hand him an extension again, regardless of whether they are in the third tier again or able to return to the Championship.
