THE KICK OFF

In several games now we have surrendered the ball straight from the kick off and last night it put Crewe right on the front foot. It needs to go to someone who can actually pass the ball and not just give it away. Marv has been guilty of this in the past this season but last nights fiasco was the worst yet...Our throw ins are also very poor and we constantly give the ball away....what do they actually practice in training?

Yes I highlighted this, it was a dreadful kick off and set the tone.

But for me why even try and boot it forward like that each time. Most the time they have more numbers back still and easily defend it, why not try something different like keeping the ball and passing forward, pass it along the back and bring them up the pitch then when their more spread you can pass through them.

Its better than just surrendering it.

But our passing isn't really good enough for that.

I think we rush corners and free kicks in attacking areas and more often or not go short. A percentage break down and we squander possession or we end up passing backwards across the back four. It drives me nuts, especially when we have Garbutt's expertise with a dead ball. Last night his corners were brilliant and posed a real threat. We scored one and just missed another three all swung in with pace to the near post.

I think sides will look at that game and potentially see an Achilles heel in our side.
