The arts council have cut their £12 million pound funding and told them they can have £17 million if they move to Manchester. Poor dears are up in arms.
 
This is the kind of levelling up which won't get a positive press; but it's about time (and I know Lottery funding was supposed to be bonus money and all that, but it's essentially another form of government grant at the levels we are talking about here).
 
The luvvies would rather be seen dead than moving oop north. That is how levelling up is supposed to work. I see Blackpool has been given tens of millions towards the development in Central. That will really annoy them.

Opera North based in Leeds next door to our office. Free lunchtime recitals with them and the College of Music.

They're very good.
