KEEPERS:
Maxwell, Sims

DEFENDERS
RB: Howe, Turton
CB: Thorniley, Ekpiteta, Nottingham
LB: Husband, MacDonald

MIDFIELDERS:
RW: Feeney
CM: Garrity, Virtue, Shaw, Sarkic, Robson
LW: Ward

FORWARDS:
Nuttall, Madine, Yates, Anderson, Hamilton

What we saying? 4-3-3? Yates or Madine through the middle with Hamilton and Anderson either side? Kaikai our wide or playing just behind Yates or Madine? Do you give Howe a chance at RB or stick with Turton?

Has to be 4-2-3-1 for me;

Yates
KaiKai - Anderson - Sarkic
Robson - Virtue
Husband - Thorniley - Ekpiteta - Turton
Maxwell

Ward and Howe used regularly where it suits, Madine used when behind to bully defenders a la Giroud.

I’m sure we’ll improve the defence and bring in 1 more central midfielder and a goalkeeper, probably on loan. It’s a good baseline for a strong squad and I’d say we’ve adequately replaced our lost permanent players. (Not including the loan players we’ve lost)

Think you’ve nailed it there.

We definitely need an older head in midfield.

As well as some experience at Centre Back, that back four looks ok on paper but it’s anyone’s guess if Husband can adapt or Big Marvs any good. All positive at the moment though.

Don’t want to be a miserable sod but that doesn’t strike me as a promotion winning team. Sorry
The team that got us promoted to the Prem wasn’t a promotion winning team on paper. But it was a team of players with a point to prove, who all worked hard and attacked anyone they came up against. I see a lot of similar attributes in players we’re currently signing.
I think you’ll struggle to find another team in this league who can match us for flair and pace now we have made these signings.
2/3 more additions needed (central midfield and centre back) and I think we will be in a very strong position.

Looks good. Hamilton an option down either wing as well.

We need at least two more CMs though. We only have two (three if you count Garrity) and we might want three on the pitch if we're planning a Liverpool system. At least one will be a loan probably.

If Thorniley is in the back four at the start of the season I will be very much concerned. He has to do a lot more to convince me. He played away at Burton and had a nightmare, and didn't make the team after that, so what is everyone basing the reason he should be in the team on? Surely someone more experienced and taller to play alongside Ekpiteta. I would also think Hamilton features in the manager's plans having spent money on him!

Thorniley was in there purely to make up a starting 11, as we lack any more centre backs. That said he was very highly rated by shef weds fans - hopefully with Critchleys coaching he’ll thrive.

I am definitely optimistic about the upcoming season, but I am attempting to stay grounded somewhat.

I wouldn't mind us not getting promoted this year, I'm certainly not expecting it. We're offloading lots of players, and bringing lots of players in, and I'm sure our comings and goings are far from over. This will mean almost an entire new squad needs to gel and adapt, especially considering the players we are bringing in at the minute are young and inexperienced at this level. As long as progress is clear, and there is semblance of a plan and a style of football I'll be more than happy, and eagerly await us to win the league the next year 😉

You also have to consider that many other teams might struggle to field a squad.

Im hoping doing our business early is gonna help with team bonding etc. Hopefully there should be good chemistry in the dressing room come the start of the season.

You can't count Shaw as part of the first team set up. He won't be. Possibly not Ben Garrity either.

Thorniley didnt play away at Burton and even if he did, we kept a clean sheet.
