Record 19 million people visited Blackpool in 2021

From another article about 2022...

"The boom has continued into 2022 with 5.1 million visitors in January and February alone, compared with 3.6 million in the same two months pre-pandemic."

It's good but a lot of it is day trips or weekends. It would be good to hear from our hotel posters to get a feel for how the season's been.

I think the airport chaos and Covid restrictions not being fully eased in many countries around the world will have helped domestic holiday towns. I have now done 3 separate UK holiday tours this year and not been abroad which is the opposite to what I have done pre-Covid.

It may have put a semi or permanent reminder in many peoples heads that the UK has some great, fun and beautiful places too and it's often easier than getting up at 3 in the morning and faffing with flights etc.

Especially if some places are still being silly over some covid stuff.

I want the town, much like the football club to be a success, but do people have to leave all of their bloody litter here?

Amazing how all the 1 million Yarkies that visited went back home with more money than they came with.😜

Maybe @Hadley can advise how his chain of hotels are doing compared to the past?
I think we are bucking the trend. With one exception, all the hotels in Reads Avenue are up for sale. Our revenues are very good and November and December shows no signs of slowing down with sold out weekends. 2023 looks promising. We are a family of grafters and i think we will retain our market share going forward.

Interesting, the town is definitely doing well currently with the number of visitors etc, I wonder whats going on there then?

I wonder of some are moving towards the bigger hotels and also the ones that have refurbished?

Last year was crazy busy for us in St Annes. A record year. This year hasn't been so busy. I haven't discussed this with other hotel and accommodation providers so that's just my view. No shortage of day trippers, but not as many stayovers.
