Nuclear is all he has to sabre rattle with though as everyone has witnessed that his army is complete wank and would last around 12 seconds against NATO.

He never was a "Communist". He just laments the loss of power.
He'd really like to be Tsar.
If he gets away with this, he'll then go for Moldova, followed by Kazakhstan, Estonia, Latvia and maybe Finland, all with the argument that the ethnic Russians are being oppressed.
If I was living in Knightsbridge or Brighton Beach I'd be getting a bit edgy too!

and there's the stupidity of his message. He lauds Catherine the great in one breath and the Soviet Union in the next. One was an absolute monarch and the other started as a revolutionary movement against the aristocracy. The USSR also held the fruit of all of its resources in common for the benefit of the People - albeit thet did it badly - whilst Putin has benefitted from the fall of the Communist Party's hold on the country, by being able to make a grab for those natural resources. This has then enabled him to rule by patronage in parcelling out those resources to the oligarchs who are dependent on him for influence. Maybe they can let those Russian troops redeem theirselves and ask them to kindly rebuild and clean up the devastated towns and villages that they had no right to be in, in the first place.
