Play off final not at Wembley ?

I see the EFL are on standby to move all 3 play off finals to accommodate the Champions league final, possibly venue change and/or date change. Thoughts on where they should be moved to if they are, Villa, Cardiff, Spurs, Deepdale ?

Why move the 3 Play off finals. The Champions League final could easily be held at Spurs, Arsenal or Old Trafford. The ESL was prevented by the wrath of the fans. Are we now going now to let Uefa and our football authorities appease the European big boys?

Why do they have to move anything?
It's going to be restricted numbers so at most put Championship final at 1 and CL at 8 on the Saturday plenty of time to turn it around.

But they won't, went on a tour round Bayern Munich ground days before a CL group game it was ridiculous the work they had to do hiding sponsors names, changing the press room even a car in reception had to be covered up.

Or Elland Rd.
Cant see that happening. They've just announced the ballot for the last home game and its only 8k tickets, so really they might be looking at more tickets required. (Our main stand has to be kept empty for players, sterile area etc)

The main issue would be access to/from the stadium concerned, so ideally you'd want supporters to come from both sides geographically speaking.

Would struggle to play a Champions League final at a club ground in this country. There has to be the same size changing rooms for both teams and all the new grounds have luxury for the home teams and benches with pegs for the away team.

They had better not move the play offs as I booked a hotel in London for bank holiday weekend months ago before any playoffs where even in the equation!!

It depends who gets there, if it's us v Lincoln or Sunderland maybe Elland Road, Old Trafford or Anfield? My guess is it'll be capped to ~10K tickets for each club so as long as its a 40K+ stadium it would work fine.

If the EFL surrender the right to stage play off finals at Wembley, so that a Champions League Final can be played there, they should be compensated by UEFA. And that compensation should be split amongst the participating play off clubs. What the EFL will be doing is enabling UEFA to stage a final which promotes their brand by playing it in front of fans. That should be worth a few million. For all that Wembley is difficult to get to for a lot of people, and a bit of a dump, it is still the established venue for play off final games and shouldn’t just be handed over.

And it ispossible, though not certain, that by switching to another smaller venue each team will be able to bring fewer fans.

If this happens its a shit decision and sums up modern football, everyone has to jump to accommodate the greed league. Just play it at Wembley either the following mid week or week after would be the sensible call, but that doesn't suit Far Eastern tv schedules does it. Or at least, move it to Arsenal, West Ham or Tottenhams stadiums.

Moving the Play Offs from Wembley deprives players from six lower league clubs the right they earned over 46 games to play at Wembley. Many wouldn't have played there before and may never play there.

Chelsea and City get the chance regularly to play League Cup finals, FA Cup semis and finals, Charity Shields and in some cases internationals at Wembley, balls to them.

AC Milan v Juventus 2003 Old Trafford

Old Trafford has been knocked off the list of UEFA finals hosts ‘cause it’s in such a state. Could still hold play-offs, I guess

If they are moved I'd only feel sorry for the players.

Personally if we did get through I'd prefer Vila Park, no desire to go to Wembley again.

Less disruption to hold the CL final at Arsenal's or Spurs ground. I thought we have had enough of the football etile trampling on the smaller clubs

The report in The Times this morning reads as if it is a certainty that something will change. Date or venue.

What I don't get is the Champions League final could as easily be in Cardiff, Old Trafford, Anfield, Hampden or Emirates. Less disruption. The FA are a desperate bunch of over paid ethically bankrupt individuals. This is exactly why the Super League proposal happened. The top hierarchy of football has no respect for the 'grass roots'.

Latest on Sky Sport is that a decision on the venue for the CL Final is now expected to be made to tomorrow. UEFA are also looking at another venue thought to be in Portugal, errr why when the 2 finalists are from England?

According to the Daily Mail:

Portugal 'increasingly likely' to host all-English Champions League final ahead of Wembley with Government not backing down to allow 2,000 UEFA VIPs and staff to have quarantine exemptions for the game

The BBC suggests that they were looking at shifting the play off final on the Saturday when the CL tinal is, not on the Sunday when the L1 final is

They shouldn't back down on quarantee arangements

Not really bothered.

Only ST holders will be allowed and half of them will be ones who went to the last play off final when we had even more tickets whilst boycotting..

I agree, completely wrong message would be sent out and 2000 UEFA delegates and workers traveling from countries nearly all on the Amber List.
There shouldn't be a quarantine list.. All vulnerable adult in the UK are vaccinated. No need for any travel restrictions.

See that’s the point Jack!!
You clearly are bothered or you wouldn’t feel to need to comment!!

Of course, if we get through to the final versus Lincoln. Sunderland - if we're talking sense, then it would be better to have our game at Old Trafford. Once again thinking of bloody Southerners with these venues!
