Planning for when this is all over

In light of the awful year that has been 2020, the loss of our freedoms and everything closing down due to the rona, anyone else feel like maybe they had been taking their lives for granted before hand? Personally I feel like I've wasted too much time over the years, so have started planning things to do for when this is over. Even previously basic things like going to the gym and cinema sound more appealing than ever. What are some things that you have planned for when this is over, and basic day to day things do you think we all took for granted?

As well as the chute lockdown I lost my 30yr old daughter to cancer and my mother this year So I'm taking nothing for granted ever again as soon as I'm able to go the wife and I are away in the caravan for months at a time enjoying good food and ale all round the country . So no more season ticket for me catch the odd potg for me and keep abreast of all things Pool on here

That's awful Lofty. Heart goes out to you. Take care.

I think I probably hit that epiphany that life is short, live it well a couple or so years ago so I already have a bit of that mindset. But yes, moreso now.
I think it’s taught me to stress less though.
All the things that used to worry me, like work pressures and beating myself up for not always getting things right or getting things done in general has eased. So many changes and demands in our workplace made me realise I can’t control everything and so I gave up trying! That’s been a lesson for me and a mindset I’m sure I will continue with. I feel more laid back 👍
It’s shown me that the show does go on when everything around you goes **** up and you can only do what you can realistically do within the confines of you have to work with. It’s taught me to say ‘no’ I can’t manage all that so lets have a rethink please.
I know I’ve missed jumping on a train and roaming around the uk freely too, and though I loved it before I will cherish it now and can’t wait to be able to do that again. And hiring a cottage in the Dales and just walking in the hills and fresh air will appeal even more than it did before 😊
Life is for living.

My sympathy’s Lofty, to lose a family member so young is just tragic to lose 2 family members the same year is just unthinkable.
I Lost both my parents to the big C Mum was only 43 Dad not much older.
It’s amazing how quick they can find a vaccine for Covid-19 but on the Cancer front in many cases it’s still the sounding the death bell, it’ll come one day I don’t doubt that.
Enjoy it mate as you never know what’s around the corner so many more important things out there than football and family is always No1. 👍

Oh so sorry to hear that. Condolences to you and a big hug 😢😘

Sorry to hear that Loftyboy, I would have liked your comment if I could have picked a caring one.

Things I have missed and will never take for granted ever again:
Giving cuddles to those most precious to you.
Hugging or putting an arm around your best mates.
Just to sit in a pub without having to plan, book or watch your every step.
Watching a football match on TV with a real crowd.
Being able to just book a holiday and go for it.
Having weekends/christmas off - worked in retail for 20 years and now I am not!
Being able to walk straight into a shop and not queue outside (especially in Winter.)
My neighbours, always got on with them but really got to know them and supported each other over last 9 months. Ringing them from the shops to see if they need anything, removing one of the fences and putting a table in-between the 2 gardens so we can eat and drink together whilst remaining on our own property! Talking to ones across the road and next door but 1/2 during 'Clap for the NHS' really brings your community closer.
The fact that I have got off my arse and constantly done jobs for any family who are older or incapable of doing the jobs themselves. Gardening etc and taking stuff to the tip for everyone.

What I have hated:
Social media - sick of all the anti this and anti that. Being called sheep's and being told to wake up. No we aren't sheep, we are just quietly getting on with our lives, protecting others and waiting for the day that this all goes away. We aren't constantly posting shite that 99% of the time is false or taken out of context. I have deleted several people as I no longer had the time to argue with them over all the conspiracy theories.

Having 3 holidays cancelled including the Christmas markets for the first time (European.)

Being made redundant.

Whilst some are claiming this is all part of the 'big reset' which is complete bollocks, I do actually feel like I have been reset as a human being and I will be a completely different person going forward!

Great post !
Sorry to hear about the job loss though 🥴

Live life the best you can and limit yourself to approx 10 mins of watching the news per day.. That has helped me immensely this year.
The world moves on and it's best not to soak up all its problems as you go,my mum said it takes less muscles to smile than to frown, don't know if it's true but it's got to be better for us.
Hope all have a better 2021 than this year but even good things have happened this year... We have a 10 day old Granddaughter and my wife is beaming... So I'm happy.

Loftyboy.. Thanks for you best wishes.
I lost my mum and my wife lost her dad this year.. It has been a tough year... All you me and other people who have lost loved ones can do is keep them in our thoughts... We never stop loving them.
I hope you have a much better 2021... Best wishes TP 99

Leopards don't change there spots. People say they'll change but we have short memories and will revert to type. I loved the first lockdown and said I would slow down but I've never been busier. I want to change and relax but it's easier said than done.

I think because I didn’t have the chance to slow down work wise, actually the opposite, it’s made me slow down as a consequence. I’m taking work less serious than I did , in some ways , and that’s not in a lazy way, but in the way I now prioritise it mentally.
It’s definitely had a multitude of different impacts and consequences on all of us.
