Paul Cook

He's sat there waiting Mr Sadler.

Tick tock.
I've already commented on this. No he's not there waiting. He was on SSN all yesterday morning.. At this point in time he thinks he's good enough for a Championship club with realistic ambitions of getting to the PL. So he's prepared to wait a while for that opportunity to come along before he starts to consider other options.

He needs to be careful though. Plenty end up wanting what Cook wants and end up not working again. If you aren’t in the game for any significant period you end up out of the game completely as clubs try younger, modern, progressive types like Critcherhino or people step up from within.

I agree with 20's on this.

One of the more established Championship clubs would probably want him, if they sack their manager. How long has the nobbers manager got left?

Oh, I agree. Managers and players more often than not over-rate their ability and think they are destined for better. i was simply reporting what Cook said yesterday which probably fits into my comments here.

I heard Cook yesterday on Sky too.

If he was made the offer I've no doubt he'd take it given the locality and the owners aspirations for the club.

Furthermore whilst Cook might see his stock as being in the upper echelons of the Championship, I don't think anyone else shares that. An ambitious L1 club near home would be very tempting I have no doubt.

Is Alan Curbishley available?

At this point in time, I don't think he would take it. I hope it doesn't come to it too. I hope Critchley can turn it around. However Cooks pedigree would put him pretty much at the top of the list if....

20s, how long are you, and others, be prepared to wait?
What if we lose or draw the next 4 games.
Would that be it?
If he changes the style to be a more quick attacking method I think we would do better.

If we see more of what we did in pre season and at least look to be trying to play that way, half of the criticism would stop. Slow, turgid, mistake ridden football will be the reason Critch gets the chop, he needs to revisit why he got the job in the first place.

A fair question Dav and I haven't got a definitive answer. What I will say is that I and I think Sadler will feel the same and that is that relegation is simply unacceptable. So maybe it comes to a point where those with decisions to make realise that in order to safeguard our position in this division we need to make a change to give a new man a fighting chance of achieving that.

I wouldn't mind betting that there will be some phone calls and meetings going on behind the scenes at the moment. End of November cold be a very interesting time if we don't start getting some wins.

Not happening currently as BM's future at the club is largely pinned to NC.

I was told last night SS will be watching what happens in the next two "winnable games", "he'll start the clock if there's two bad results" were the words uttered to me.

Dont want Cook Cowley bros or anyone else the minute.

I want the club to work with Critchley.

These are this managers players and no guarantee that these other managers will get any more out of them.

If I was a betting man I'd say if results stay poopy, then BM is as likely to go as NC is.

All this must be so hard for SS to manage from a distance- yes he can zoom and the such, but he can't get the 'smell' of the place like he could walking round the corridors, going to SG, pulling players aside for a chat and getting their 'off the record' thoughts.

Ditching NC has huge ramifications beyond the next game and caretakers.

Did a cracking job at Pompey and Wigan
Or did he?

If you believe some then he dumped Accy for big spending Chesterfield, they went bust after he left, he then left Pompey as they were ran on a budget and he wanted money that wasn't available, Wigan paid huge wages for the division they were in and went bust under him!
Buys success?

PS I quite like him 😀

...he was a last resort. Mansford failed again.

Even if and it,s a big if, we got rid of critchley who,s to say the next one in could do anything with the players ,we all know managers like to bring in players of there own,and the window is now closed til jan,i think we should stick at least till jan to see if things improve,we know we can play better just need to get a bit of confidence, and a bit of luck hopefully it will turnaround soon ,thats my opinion anyway for what it,s worth

Does beating Eastbourne in the Cup count? 🤪
If we actually win of course.

Paul Cook, why? Club has deliberately gone down the path of inexperienced players. Two of the reasons for that are smaller wage bill and greater chance of unearthing a gem we can sell for decent money. Very much a Crewe model, but didn't really help them achieve much success, despite producing some decent players. Unlike Crewe we, as Blackpool fans, demand, rightly, much more. We let go the 2 players who kept us up last year and lost our captain and keeper went back home. The 2 loanees added some class. This project can only end 2 ways. So far we play like we are social distancing from each other, and are predictable, with all our play taking place in front of opposition. Other than that we bang it over their left back for Hamilton, and he has shown less heart than the lion from Wizard of Oz. We have had so many red cards because we are not strong enough to tackle. Apart from Ballard I am yet to see a footballer. I hope it is just a case of bedding in, but we have yet to see basic skills such as passing, tackling, heading, dribbling, and any degree of passion. Would Paul. Cook make them better footballers ? I doubt it.
