Nuttall Season Long Loan to Barrow?

I think he will go out on loan. His confidence was shot at the end of last season and Critchley will want to build his own team.

I can’t see Barrow coming close to paying the portion of his wages we’d want a loan club to contribute.

Plus a loan fee, non starter for me.

We paid a lot of money for him, which was the main reason he didn't go out on loan last season. I would imagine he is on quite good money and we would require a good percentage being paid by the loaning club. Would Barrow be in a position to pay this?

Critchley only only worked with him for a few matches before the lockdown and he was beginning to look more interested. I think Critchley will certainly give him a go before even considering a loan. Because of the residual Covid issues I actually think there will be fewer loans at the start of the season

I don't mean to be negative, but he was poor against Tranmere and got hauled off at half time.

Did he actually play against Fleetwood? Was he on the left for a bit? I can't recall. I think he looks better out there. He's better in build up play than he is in the box. He's got some lovely touches but then it's overshadowed by his play in front of goal.

Tbf, he was looking a bit more like it under Dunn and the Bolton goal was the moment of the year.

Hope he does well and gets the confidence he clearly needs.

Here we go again let's get the ball rolling and character assassinate one of our own players before he has even kicked a ball under the new coach with the new set up.

It's always been the same at Blackpool, give a dog a bad name and he will never lose it.

For Goodness sake give the lad a chance.

Totally and utterly agree. The poor lad has had pelters and I really hope he is in Critchley's plans as a regular starter and he shuts some of this lot up. Thankfully there are plenty who are supporting him, but it should be everyone. He is one of ours.

We should be too ambitious to give him another chance. Same old Blackpool is persisting with very poor players time after time and them then never delivering.

Completely agree Wilf, the style of play under Grayson didn't fit him at all.
Critchley has had a good few month to look at him and will make his own decision.
I can't see him getting the advice of a few fifa2020 managers on a message board 😏

Easy to say. Let’s see if Critchley picks him in his starting line ups . I say no chance. He isn’t good enough to improve us to challenge.

Couldn’t agree more.Let’s see how things develope before writing him or for that matter any other player off.The manager and the back room staff will ultimately decide whether he is good enough not some armchair managers on here.

We all want any player that pulls a tangerine shirt on to do well. Some will fail for various reasons. I see something in Joe. If the front five is full of skill he could seriously flourish. The signings so far suggest we will have more technical players which may suit Joe’s style. I’ve watched the Pool for 50 years and I see a player in him. He may turn out to be crap but I hope Critch sticks with him. We all have opinions about players which is wonderful as it provokes discussion and banter. I say get his mindset right and give him a chance to express himself. Go Joe!

Right so we just relentlessly start him every game no matter what?
Obviously not, we do what we do with other players and get behind them. There’s a turning point for every player, where they will Potentially come good.. that could be his late goal towards the end of last season🤷🏻‍♂️ Or it could be 2 months from now.

Imagine a player stepping up from league 2 to the championship and having to adapt to the standard.

It’s the same from the 23s to league one.

I`ve certainly not seen all the games he has played and I agree it`s all a matter of opinions but in those games I have seen both live and on TV in my opinion he has been very poor ,well below the required standard and Grayson seem to persist with him purely because he had recommended we bought him in the first place, very expensively as it now appears, both in his fee and his contract.

I hope I`m wrong for the club`s sake but I fear we`ve bought a Grayson dud and it`s not as if he`s that young with many years of improvement still to come.

So far he`s had 66 appearances as a striker for various clubs and scored 8 goals,2 goals from 25 games for us. Sometimes you`ve got to be realistic, face up to the unpalatable truth forget any wishful thinking, and just cut your losses before even more damage is done to both the team and the club accounts.

If the rumours of us paying £700K are true it would be madness to loan him out to Barrow. If we look at how Hardie has done playing for a top side, maybe that would be a better option. If he does go we want him playing in a side that will create chances and therefore give him the best opportunity to shine and build his confidence.

Watch the video of when he first signed, my first thought after watching this was didn't look thrilled or sound excited to be here. There seems no get up or go in him and for me that transferred onto the pitch.

I really hope Neil Critchley can find some drive and emotion in him. Only Joe knows if that's there. If its not i dont see him making it as a footballer anywhere. I wish him good luck and hopefully a new beginning with us.

I think because of his size and nature people forget he’s still a young lad.

AND some players just don’t fit into every system; under Critchley we at least need to give him a chance. After that, if he can’t play hoofball or tika taka then the criticism may be justified.

So that suggests all the evidence accrued from past performances should be forgotten and regarded as irelevant. In all walks of life you learn from the past otherwise you keep making the same mistakes.

No, he needs to step up and perform. But maybe playing in a footballing team will benefit him?

Very few players beam or give enthusiastic answers when being asked inane questions like "are you delighted to get it over the line?" Why have people over the last year read so much into this lad's interview??

I said on another thread yesterday I think the odds are stacked against him being a success here at this point, but I remain hopeful.

As I have said on other threads, when Nuttall was first mentioned as a possibility most posters on here were convinced he would be a great signing. I didn’t know anything about him and had never seen him play so I had an open mind. Having watched almost every game he has played I have come to the conclusion a) he doesn’t want to be here b) there is more go in a glass of liver salts and c) he seems to think he only has to turn up and we should be grateful. I would love for Critchley to find a footballer in there and prove me and a lot of others wrong. However I think it will be a long wait.

You cannot judge a player by the communication skills in his interviews for christ sake. Maybe he didn't have a great start but that was probably down to numerous other factors such as a large price tag, not playing much professional league football (playing u23 football) and Graysons tactics.

Perhaps you can judge him by the number of excuses you have to come up with in an attempt to gloss over his shortcomings.
Behave. I'm not glossing over anything but the fact you are judging a player's ability on one poor season (under a poor manager) suggests your lack of footballing knowledge.

Gnando only really has had one good season after many mediocre ones, so there is still time for Nuttall to make an impact.
We should not be talking of getting rid unless he has run of games and gives nothing back

Yes let Critchley see if he wants him and if he suits his system...if not cut the losses and offload...someone else will take a chance on him even if we lose a but of money...he stunk the place out last year but thats what it was... last year and under a very poor tactician...new start for all to prove themselves Nuttall included...worst case scenario is we play him for ten games and he is shocking but Im sure the new gaffer will see more of him than we will and he will be able to coach him or ditch him

Damn! Saw this and thought it had happened. For the sake of the lad, let him go. Very rare players who've had such a bad start at a club ever 'come good'.
