Nobbers by name, Nobbers by nature..

I've also noticed something on a lot of Preston twitter accounts, where they all put "cha" at the end of things they say. Even that Scott Fitzgerald, the Preston boxer has his bio on twitter as "scrap on TV for money cha"

Is that something they say down there? They actually end sentences with "cha"?

It's quite bizarre the "cha" thing. Is "cha" or "chai" not the old word for "tea"? How that fits in to ending a sentence makes no sense at all.

Alreet Cha.

Looks like he found the Peg leg tbh 😯
Talking of Peg that used to be a regular knobber saying.
When I was 15 in 1975 my parents got a pub in the Pungington area(basically a slum area)and it was a bit grim, to be honest moving there from Catterall.

Anyway, when I started my first job I was a bit shocked have many women were called Peg as in the brew room it was always our Peg this and our Peg that.
I thought my suspicions about inbreeding were all too true, but as you have probably worked it out a bit quicker than I did, it was their odd way of saying "My Misses"

Never felt so stupid ever again when I asked the question in the afternoon break 🥴🥴🥴🥴

I grew up in that there Preston and in all fairness and despite the rivalry, Preston folk are in most walks of life generally alright - they're a friendly, honest, decent bunch.

However, I was always perplexed at their strange attachment to a predictable, monochrome football club known simply as "Lillywhites." I was baffled when they would regularly ask each other whether they were going "on" Deepdale at the weekend. Stranger still was a yearly festival involving the wearing of funny headgear and calling each other "gentry." But even these strange observances were eclipsed by a very rare, voodoo-esque ritual procession known as "raising the coffin", and an even rarer mass gathering at something called a "flag market" (which despite it's name never appeared to sell any flags...)

Obviously like any good missionary engaged in a difficult field, out of real concern for these good folks I tried to help them see the (Tangerine) light, but sadly my efforts were usually (always, in fact) in vain.

Reported in today's Times that Fisher will be charged with violent conduct and banned for 3 games.
Dirty Nobber.
