So the songwriter will presumably get a royalty payment for it being played at the conference. If so will he keep it despite being churlish that they used it or donate it........?

Labour supporter songwriter puts a Tweet out and anyone should give a toss.
Shows how bad journalism has become.

Probably refuse it knowing Mike Pickering, not short of a few bob anyway.
 
Pickering was on the radio yesterday after they used it. He said the current Tory party disgusts him. If they were informed before hand they could of given the venue a cease and desist notice. Tory hq kept it quiet till the last minute, this is the case with many tracks Trump has used in his rallies .
It made me laugh when Pickering said Bobby Gillespie called him to say thank fuck they didn’t use Moving on up by primal scream.

At least Labour asked permission in 1997. Perhaps this is more about the current swamp of Tories taking people for granted. I say people but it could also be the Pound, pension funds, mortgages.....

Venue's are covered by PRS licensing can't see my best friend who's a Sound engineer on all types of events contacting an artist every time he has to play a certain song can you?

I don't think you've understood this. It's not about sound engineers and events managers. It's about big, national news events.
