"Born in Crewe, Critchley is regarded as one of the top coaches in Europe.
The former Crewe Alexandra graduate, who moved to Liverpool in 2013 to take on the role of Under 18s coach before being handed the Under 23 role in the summer of 2017, is just one of 16 coaches in the country to have gained the highest possible qualification in the game.
This comes after he was hand-picked by the FA to take UEFA’s first elite badge course." He remains the favourite for the job on SkyBet.

Wonder who he'll bring in as assistant if he's appointed, and if Dunne will stay on in any kind of role

Bit bizarre to say he is regarded as one of the top coaches in Europe yet the most he has ever managed is the Liverpool U23s?

Could be a good shout. Who knows, but certainly a gamble. I think I would prefer Dunn ‘til the end of the season and take it from there, but maybe it could be the way to go.

Coach is the operative word there, this guy is a coach, not a manager. However I think that the board are wanting a head coach, not a manager as we have Johnson as the head of recruitment, and anything else can be done by a coach.

Never been sure how this works as it can't be good telling the manager sorry head coach we've signed a player he doesn't want or do they respect his input as final, if so they are more scouts, I wonder with all the recent incomings who had the say?

Impressive credentials - interesting to see how useful those qualifications are when you are playing some of the sloggers in League One and English Football generally. Phillip Cocu isn't finding it easy at Derby.

Danny Murphy on TalkSport rates him highly but says he is a very quiet man who may need a bad cop number 2 to work with.

It's very difficult to read too much into the five minute interview on the Club website, but he did come across as fairly calm and quiet. It's a very interesting appointment and clearly he is highly regarded as a coach. The step up to management will bring a whole new set of challenges and hopefully NC will rise to the challenge and be succeful in his new role with Blackpool F.C.

I'm open minded and will fully support the new manager, though I can't say I'm jumping through hoops at this stage and maybe that's a good thing.
