Liz Truss

Well-known member
The Lady Jane Grey of the Tory Party.

In charge briefly then overthrown by her own.

History repeats itself.

Jane Grey was a very intelligent woman but a political innocent, put forward by vested interests in supporting the reformed Church. She had a legitimate claim on the Crown because her cousin's will (Edward VI) had disinherited his sisters. However, the Catholic church was strong and there was a movement behind Mary. The support for Jane melted away and exposed her and her family.

Not quite the same as the Truss situation. For me, this is a new constitutional moment in history. It's not even the same as Eden at the time of Suez.

I'm not going to agree or disagree with what you say Wiz, there are more theories about the whole thing than I could shake a stick at and god knows what's going on ?

The lunatics are running the asylum.
She has at least got a seat at the coronation for her and her hubby, as all ex PMs attend, and a great pension, so not all bad for her.

They've all got their snouts in that trough Tangy.

For the benefit of Lost, my figures could be wrong but I believe that all ex PMs are allowed to claim a maximum of £115k per annum.

At the last return:

Major claimed £115k

Blair claimed £115k

Cameron claimed something like £114k

Brown claimed something like £113k

Boris was not included on the return but I'm going to say he will claim more than £114,999 and less than £115,001
