I see the Wolves manager has slated him for his performance last night in the Burnley match and said he never wants to see him refereeing Wolves again.

I seem to remember him being a total barsteward and useless generally when he used to referee us which seems like an eternity ago.

The only thing I can remember him doing something good for us was once when he awarded us a pen at Newcastle in the Prem. I seemed to remember he comes from Bolton may be that's why he hates us. May be its time he was put out to pasture

He was the one who allowed a late winner for Swansea when the linesman flagged for offside and he deemed Lee Trundle wasn't interfereing with play as he shephered the ball into the net and prevented Peter Clarke getting back to clear. One of the worst decisions I've seen and why I remember it so well.

Crikey, could you imagine what he’d be like if he’d had some of the utter shite we’ve been served up with recently.he is of course correct though and it needs looking into because quite a lot of referees are simply not good enough for the job.

The Wolves manager hasn't slated Mason for poor or specific wrong decisions during last nights game. He's slated him for his control of the game, how he talks and communicates with players during the game. And as I've said I've seen Mason up close after a game on two occasions where his arrogance and desire to be the centre of attention stood out like a sore beacon.
Needless to say, the Wolves Manager will be probably rightly subject to some sort of conduct charge but some times it's just too hard to bite your lip and last night was one of those occasions.

Aren't Referees supposed to be impartial?
It does make one wonder sometimes. 🙄
I suppose that some are more 'impartial' than others.😠

He was shortlisted for the 2010 Play off final. A few Pool fans were seriously worried!

He did give us a dubious penalty against Sunderland at home. Made no difference though as we lost 2-1.

Refs could actually tell a little lie regards where their support is (like lots of people have lots of favourite teams ) how do you police that?.

Over to you Gareth

I seem to remember he didn't give us a stonewall penalty at home to Arsenal in the PL, we were losing 2-1 at the time but we were on top. 2 minutes later Arsenal went up the other end and finished the game off.

The Wolves manager is quite right. Lee Mason is shocking, and has been shocking for his entire refereeing career. I remember the premier league game at Newcastle. Blackpool and Newcastle supporters sung you dont know what you are doing together! Whilst they are investigating rubbishness, why not investigate Jonathan Moss and his West Brom bias - he took home Kevin Phillips's shirt when he played for them in the Championship, and his outside the area pen at The Hawthorns, and Clive Boyeson, who is consistently useless.

Didn't Mason try to abandon a game against Bolton at Bloomfield because it was too windy? I seem to remember the referee picking up the ball and starting to walk off but Grayson and Coyle not having it.

Like Moss, Mason has been allowed to referee past the normal retirement age of 47.
You can only wonder why this, as they are both appalling.

There was an ex player on Sky today I only caught the end of it so can’t remember who it was but said Mason sent him off and then at the end of the game tried to be clever and have a laugh about it.

Lee Mason and Kevin Friend are always the two names I remember being utter garbage when refereeing us in the football league years ago.

How both are in the Premier League now is quite scary and also maybe a wake up call of the quality of the referees we have in this country.

Years ago, I remember a BBC commentator saying he wasn't sure who was reffing the game, Lee Mason, or Lee Evans?
Agree about Mike Dean, btw.

There was another - Phil Dowd. Remember that home game against City? One crucially incorrect decision after another. Robbed.

Yes I remember that. It was a terrible match and the ball wouldn't stay still for goal kicks etc and it was pretty obvious he wanted to walk off but all the players and managers wanted to carry on and he was clearly miffed about it.

Yep, saw that interview a couple of times. Might have been Dean Ashton. Couldn't believe what I was hearing. Saying he was having a laugh at the end of the game about sending a player off. And it drew no criticism.
