Hypocrisy of English teams and fans with the Champions Lge Final

So, the ‘Big Six’ of English ‘Premium’ League pull out of the Euro Super Calli Money Bags Fraternity League (ESL, short title) due to ‘Legacy Supporter Power’ against yank or whoever owns them owners yet, two of those Clubs, the finalists, City and Chelski are begging sorry pressing (including the idiot @ No 10) UEFA to bow to ‘super fan power’ and kick all the EFL finals out of Wembley because we aren’t important

sorry boys and girls it’s booked - I don’t care where you take your operatic ballon du €’s but do not muck up 3 Divisions finales because you can

To me, you can play your one final where you like, but I would actually prefer it is played any where other than here - if you think you are in the stars of the football world, go and play your final there and please take your fans with you

Eufa and Wembley are to blame if it happens which is unlikely nownot the so called big six clubs. And why blame the fans of those clubs who have gone to great lengths with their protests against the ESL.

And it's not like you to defend them 😉

I wouldn't mind but most City and Chelsea players would have played at Wembley over a dozen times whether playing for their club or country.

It's a disgrace there's even consideration. And yes, shame on Wembley, Uefa and possibly the Government if they authorise 3,000 unscreened individuals quarantine free privileges.

The reality is no other stadium in England matches UEFA specification for TV, media etc.

Playing a CL final away from England in current circumstances - when both teams are English - is stupid.

It makes no real difference to BFC if it’s played elsewhere and ideally closer to home.

We are not there yet and face a right battle to be.

So let’s just take a common sense approach and move the CL final to Wembley and ideally the PO finals to Old Trafford or similar.

What am I defending exactly? I'm simply pointing out that the o/p was blaming all the wrong people. And god knows why he should have a dig at the fans of the 'big six' when it was the fans of those clubs that forced the u-turn by the owners. Or do you disagree with that.

Oh and of course more double standards by the moderators. Amazing how quick a couple of lads in M'boro are on the case.

Nonsense. Spurs new ground or the Emirates fit the bill plus Ibrox, Hampden or the Milstad. We get very few chances to go to Wembley. City went there 4 or 5 times last season alone.

Please note I said England.

Spurs is rubbish for UEFA as it has no room around the pitch especially behind the goal for loads of media, which is where most fail the UEFA tests - as does the Emirates.

Can't agree with that, there will only be a small crowd so let them play at another ground like Spurs or Arsenal or Old Trafford. The Play offs are the pinnacle of the season and the finals are at Wembley, I would feel the same whoever was in the finals. It's just more arrogance from the top table. They should be grateful that it will be played in England, it, indeed, it is.

I'd tend to agree with the OP but covid is dictating everything at the mo, so any sort of large capacity is curtailed by the restrictions.

I wouldn't even mention the word final for fear of invoking Billy Davis' play off gaffe 😁

If we make it to the final I personally wouldn't mind if it was played at Tottingham's ground.
I would, I don't want the grasping barstewards to profit from it. They can play the final at Villa Park or similar like in the old days of cup semis. Nothing for the not so super six!

Just to add Old Trafford and Cardiff used to be a Cat 4 stadiums but were downgraded recently.
Lots of English stadia meet UEFA's requirements. There may even be a L1 club whose ground is good enough.

That list is a bit out of date but there's no reason to think most of those wouldn't still be on the list. There's also a Category 5 list but that seems to have been merged into a Cat 4+ listing.

Agree and disagree with seasideone.

Given the times, the original host ground/city wasn't going to enjoy the benefits of visiting supporters and makes sense to be held in England as you suggest.

I'm not questioning your knowledge of stadium categorisation for a second but surely as Wiz suggests, there are other big venues in England that could be used ?

I can't imagine that the other big venues would fall far short of what was required and with limited crowds could surely be adapted appropriately to meet all media requirements - I appreciate that they may not have time to have stadiums categorisation upgraded but near enough ?

Sorry Kip, I didn't see your post when I posted and maybe I should have questioned seaside's knowledge !!!!!!!!!!!!!

How sad we have been joking today about the freak weather on Common Edge and a poor boy has been struck by lightning there tonight and killed

Poor soul 😥

Finals should all be at Wembley, so move the champions league final to the 30th. Simple.
So what happens to the League 1 finalalso scheduled for that day!
If 29th then it’s the Championship final.

The media haven’t even mentioned the affect it would have if switched to Wembley.
They make it look like a simple switch not affecting anyone else.
Another suggestion is to play the League 2 final ( 31st) to another venue.
I cannot see Morecambe v Forest Green attracting 20K anyway.

Fleetwood Road North when the ball went in the dyke and you got covered in shite and nettle stings trying to recover it 😬 😂💩
There was also the genuine danger of ltripping over one of my contact lenses, which got left on there after coming out.

At least I have the consolation that it's helping to support a whole new housing development now.
