Frank to be sacked at Chelsea

Silly decision by him to take on such a huge managerial role so quickly, hadn't he only had 1 season at Derby?

It's not an exact comparison but Gerrard is doing the right thing, staying away from the Premier League whilst cutting his teeth. Rangers is still a big job but its not quite the pressure that is on managers of big clubs in the Prem where it is extremely cut throat, when he eventually makes the move there he will be much better off for it.

No comparison between jobs at Chelsea and Rangers. The latter just have to beat Celtic in more of the million times they play each other. If Alex Ferguson had Roman as his owner at United he would.d have been potted after a fruitless first 12 months. Football at that level has no soul. Have they learned nothing from United this season.

Took the job to early, two more seasons at Derby he may have been ok. The squad they have is full of goals but the defence is awful.

If that's true it says more about Chelsea than Frank Lampard.
I hope they spend the next few years winning nothing because that's what they deserve. What a horrible club they are.

One years management experience at Derby County will clearly not be enough if as expected he is sacked. I think he is going to become a top manager whom will manage the national side in the future.

I despair. I'm not a Chelsea fan and I accept some of the opinions that it may have been too big a job too early for him. But how on earth can they justify sacking him after such a short space of time? It's not as if there is any other team/s running away with things this season. From what I've seen the Prem this season is all much of a muchness and bang average. And how can young English managers be expected to succeed? I hope they get what they deserve and have an absolutely crap season.

I feel the same Rusty. Shocking decision in particular as he had only one season experience . He is a bright manager they should have stuck with. If their next appointment does not work out i have no sympathy with them. It is also about giving bright young english managers a chance. Poor decision.

Standard Chelsea procedure.

Get new manager in, give him 18 months to win the league, fail, sack him. Same will happen now with Tuchel if that’s who they go for.

If it wasn’t for the enormous wages and massive pay off when the inevitable happens I cant understand why anyone would take the job!!

Don't get all the hand-wringing. Something to do with him being young and English? They have a squad that should be towards the top of the league and they're 9th and looking hopeless. They're unbelievably easy to score against.

Chelsea managers don't stick around if they're not cutting it.

I’ve no idea whether he’s a good or bad manager, the fact is results are what matters and he knew that when he took the job. Only his pride will suffer, not his bank account and he’ll no doubt turn up as a pundit while he waits for another lucrative, overpaid job.

Abramovich worried simply about missing the income from next season’s Champions’ League. Short-sighted. Will he alienate the fans? Can he see clearly from his bolt hole in Israel?

As for the purported replacement, Tuchel, doesn’t he need to be granted a work permit now? Why should he qualify for one? He’s only managed Dortmund and PSG for less than 5 seasons, plus before that, a couple of minor German clubs. And his playing career was unexceptional. He also has a reputation for losing the dressing room. Sadly, with Abramovich’s billions, I can’t see it turning into a long term slide.

Another manager picking up millions in compo for being no good at his job. Must have been reading fat Sam's Dummies Guide to Failure and Riches.

Couple of poor summer signings have done for him, we're they Frank's choice?
That's always the suspicion around Chelsea. I end up watching them more than other PL clubs as my step kids support them. One thing I've noticed is how Kante is played in a position that isn't defensive/holding midfielder. Frank's either deluded if he ever thought that would work or he's forced to play people and try and fit them into a system. He won't really care though. He'll be walking away with a handsome pay off.

Lampard knew the score when he took the job. The biggest mistake he made was not getting an experienced assistant in to help especially in the defensive set up. I think the multi million pay off will soften the blow.
