Forgotten loan players that did well for the pool.

Paul Dickov isn't spoken about much.
Liam Dickenson was very good for us. He has had a couple of clubs since.

Dockov was one of those players who you hated unless he played for you.
I remember we played West Brom, we were winning 1-0 and Kevin Phillips got an equaliser, Dickov was brought on and got booked before we kicked off again! Legend.

Thing with Liam Dickinson though - he scored 4 but they were all in the first two games. What a career - I guess that's the definition of a journeyman pro

seasideone makes fair point but when I saw the thread title I was going to say Wayne Gill, Jason Kearton and Dylan Kerr but I'm not sure they are that forgotten, in fact I'm sure every fecker remembers all of them !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bloody hell S2020 were you reading over my shoulder 👍

I`ve forgotten most things far more than just the trivia on here but to enter in to the spirit of things what was the (double barrelled?) name of the excellent midfield player we had on loan last season .Was he from Leicester City and where is he now? At least this fits the rules of those we have forgotten.

Dewsbury Hall currently on loan at Luton.
I think Wes must be the best loan player we’ve had, certainly this century. Whether he can be classed as a forgotten loan is a moot point.

Thank you.Appreciated.
Now I know where to go for remembering the recent Seasider past. Anything more distant I remember clearly going back to the 1953 team which I used to recite to myself before going to sleep as a small boy(still do occasionally.)Farm Shimwell,Garrett,Fenton,Johnston,Kelly,Matthews,Taylor,Mortesen,Brown, Perry, with a couple injured in the `53 final. No subs or loans then.

PS I remember Wes, he was wonderful.I was gutted when the Oystons cashed in for a minimal sum..

There are so many players we had during that horrible 2 year stretch between 2013-2015 that did absolutely nothing for us. Islam Feruz, Andrea Orlandi, Chris Eagles. Joe Rothwell is probably the one that has actually gone on to make something of himself at Rovers that I completely forgot played for us.

Greg Strong, a decent centre back that we could have signed for (I think) £50k... Unfortunately £50k was £50k more than the Stains were prepared to part with!

Steven Caldwell and Chris Armstrong (LB from Sheff Utd) are two that were quality for us but rarely get mentioned. Neither played for us very long but they both stood out.

Ashley Ward played one game, and scored one. We could have bought him for £75k, but the stains refused. Crewe bought him, and then sold him onto Norwich for a large profit.

Well done Owen!

Matt Dickins had a decent loan spell in 1992 ish from Blackburn.

Neil Moore was a great centre back loanee from Everton In about 1994

Remember McMahon bringing a striker from Blackburn on loan, the year we went down, James Thomas? Scored a few if i recall ?

Matt Dickins was decent but who remembers his miss-kick from a backpass against Leyton Orient for a comical own goal?!

I really liked James Thomas. Another one from around that time from Rovers was Steven Hawe. Look great against Hull first game of the season, got injured the next week and we never saw him again.

Malcolm Smith anyone? Scored 5 in 8 games on loan 1976. Massive clamour to sign him permanently from Boro but he went to the states and signed for Portland Timbers
I was going to suggest Malcolm Smith too. Think the fee Boro wanted was £15k and we declined

Surprised no one has mentioned Mick Hill who scored twice in our record 10-0 victory over Lanerossi, amongst others, on the way to the Final against Roma in which he also played. The club wanted to buy him...(sounds familiar). Only played in the tournament in June 1972 but no league games.
