With this side, we should be in a higher league position than we are.

We've seen several players who have the ability, but struggle to maintain the standard.

Do you really think that a manager such as Paul Cook or Mick McCarthy would be content with the sporadic dross that is served up?

I keep hearing excuses like' Critchley has had....so many players to mould into a team' etc etc - Well JFH at Burton doesn't seem to have a problem.

Critchley might be a good Coach, but he's a pretty average Manager. His substitutions and tactical awareness often are dire.

Ive been willing to support him and give him a chance, but now Im not so sure.

Critchley is half way into his first season as a manager. Disappointed as I am after the last two results, I feel it is too early to judge.

I'm with you. It pains me to say it. I was saying give the man ten games early on against doommongers. I've said, it's a new broom, give him the season. But, Christ, in March everyone should know the tactics, the lay-offs, each other's game. We were second best at home and we lacked confidence. Corner of their area...play it backwards. Why! Corner of their area, plough through and cause havoc? No, put it wide for a looping cross. Why?!!! Give these players (good players) a chance to be expansive. In the latter part of the second half Virtue was on his own in forward midfield. WHY?!
Yates and Simms scratching for the ball on the wing near half way...Why?!!!
I've had enough. Get rid.

Massive backing. Think we’ve got the biggest wage bill in the division, if not definitely top 3. He’s just not got it Critchley has he, sure he’s a nice hard working guy but he’s just not got it. It’s Sadler I feel for, hope he doesn’t lose enthusiasm, backing mediocrities like Critchley. And to think of the pelters Grayson got with a decent track record and the endless support Critchley gets when he’s producing bugger all. No charisma nothing this guy, a coach at best.

Posted a few times that give him a full season then take a judgement but things do need to improve, we struggle to dominate on games.

This is the first time Ive questioned the manager, he needed to be ahead of the game today with his decisions.

Hopefully he will set up on Tuesday and get 3pts. !

I'm pretty peeed off with todays not just result but performance which is pretty much the same as the last game. I think NC got it wrong again today and it's worrying that the passing and pressing seem to have given way to long balls however for me he has this season as a banker and I will start to judge him and his team from next season.

I'm not sure Bendit's any better or worse than many of those who commented on the Critchley anniversary thread which can only have been on here about a week ago at the most.

You'd have been forgiven for thinking we had Guardiola on the firm.

Is there nobody who thinks that he is doing OK and somewhere in between the AVFTT extremes ?

I think he is doing OK, but has been given all the tools to be faring better than he currently is.
Hardly grounds to pot him though.

This exactly. Give him another window to mould his team, then see how it looks. We're probably underachieving given the backing. But you can see it coming together. Just not quickly enough for the babies who want everything yesterday.

No problemmo.

I don't have a problem with people holding different opinions on Critchley either.

It's just that on here we go from him being Guardiola to fit to burn in less than a week, maybe I am being kind to a few as it would appear that an equalising goal can change a hero to a zero in a second.

I don't think this will ever change and will probably get worse so probably best ignored.

He’s clearly as safe as houses this season. Pointless debating it. He’s done well to turn around a horrific start but he’s got to learn from his many errors that have cost us this season. Too naive at first, too cautious now. It’s league one and it’s his first management job and he’s doing alright. By the time the games in hand iron out he might still surprise on the upside.

If I’m honest I’ve flip flopped around my opinion of a Critch a bit, but I think this post sums up exactly why I can’t get fully on board with him yet.

He has won me over in the last couple of months. But today was really worrying for a lot of reasons many of which you allude to.

As they say on the Politics thread - source?

Where does it state we are highest wage earners or even top 3?

Even a village idiot would suspect that Sunderland would be a way higher wage bill for starters

Just listened to his post match on BFC you tube.
He talked about making the same mistakes and learning from them and also about the best form of defence is to attack.
Well if he's learned after today don't take Simms off and leave Jerry isolated,
and bringing defenders on isn't the best form of defence,
then hopefully we can move forward.

Spot on .

As clappers states his first job in management and he's doing alright.

Critch needs our support as we fight for our play off spot.

No matter who plays the players should be drilled by now into a style of play that is effective, controls the ball and creates chances.

Had we such a style Wimbledon wouldn't be dominating us at home. It was almost like under grayson for parts where we'd completely lose control, passes bouncing off players and straight back to them.

Look at Crewe, up from league 2, a philosophy as a club.

We have probably out spent them a fair bit, why can't we play decent football but with more firepower we should have with Yates madine, cj etc up top to finish those chances.

We should be able, under the managers guidance, have players now that can pass better than a bottom 4 side, yet today they looked better on the ball.

The football under grayson was one dimensional and going nowhere, Critchley isn't great but given time who knows. How good were you in the first year of your job?
He hasn't got a license to go on forever but barring a disaster this season he gets at least the first 3 months of next!

Form table looks good, defensive record looks good. Some suspect selections not so good, substitution tactics sometimes questionable. Overall I am seeing a new manager trying hard to get things right, sometimes succeeding and occasionally not. I’m not a happy clapper who will not voice my opinion on poor selection and poor tactics if I want to - we had examples of both yesterday and it was a draw when we really should have won. I’m just not going to say all is lost when our overall run of results are good now. Ultimately if some of the performances mean we get some dull, ground out and ugly wins they are still wins. And I accept the frustration of throwing a win away being the reality of an inexperienced manager and crap league one football.

I want us to see the season through with Critchley and give him room to continue to learn. We are not losing games, we are still not out of the hunt and with our squad we could beat anyone on any given day. I don’t want us to be another knee jerk, short sighted club who haven’t the bottle to give things a proper chance. And it is obvious that is not what SS wants either.

I’m thinking in longer terms and trying to see the potential more than the short term disappointment. And yes, live with the fact we are a league one side with an inexperienced young manager and all the inconsistencies that brings. But I see ambition and potential with our owner and manager now that makes the future feel bright and more achievable than it has in ages.

I don’t expect all to share this view. I’d probably be bothered if we all did :-). That’s just where I am.
