Do fans expect too much?

Complain when we win, complain when we draw, complain when we lose.

Both Appleton and Dublin said it was a professional performance - are they right and our fans are over-reacting?

All fans like their teams to be the best and why not? We have a very good squad and play some great football but only in patches. Whether it’s confidence or Critches tinkering we are still in touch at the top but we need to be more consistent over 90 minutes.

Think we were worried of what might happen, we have a habit of throwing away leads.
Think they should have had a penalty and should have scored in the dying minutes, so we rode our luck against a non league outfit.

Weirdly it was like Cheltenham and to some extent Fleetwood where we get to a stage in the game and seem content with our lot.
The weird thing is Critch sees this as well but I don’t think he understands the changes he makes contribute to this.

No fans of any club go to a match expecting to lose, they might think they will, but they’ll always have optimism.

So why do some people post on here before saying we are going to lose? 😆

In fact I felt like Bromley away was a tricky cup draw. I didn't expect to lose but felt it was a distinct possibility. The top end of the Conference is a pretty good standard. Critch made 6 changes and 4 more after half time. We had a full on game at Fleetwood that ended 63 hours before kick off and we had to travel and adjust. We had to consider avoiding injuries and giving playing time to fringe players, which is a helpful thing to do. You can't play your best eleven players non stop all game every game and expect to stay intact. Dembele is gradually increasing his fitness and his connection with the players around him.

We were very good first half on astro turf. In recent games the good spells have been excellent so I think we can see significant development and progress. Of course we want to see full performances, not half games. Critch was very honest about the second half shortcomings. Lots of work to do. We are certainly not the finished article but when we are in it we are very good. I'll take that, for now. We do need Norburn back, among other things.

So tonight Michael Appleton made eleven changes to Charlton Athletic for their game against Cray Valley Paper Mills .As it turned out it was a really competive game. Finished 1.1 Cray Valley were excellent considering there are seven divisions apart. point being all managers/ head coaches play who they think will get the results . so lets not be too critical . Michael Appleton was not everyones cup of bovril but its a results business and it seems its a good fit at the Valley.

He‘ll get sacked for that (too much tinkering) — wish they‘d lost

Or you could choose to reel off all the shots we had that just went wide or over the bar in the first half or near the end of the 2nd half when even Beesley almost scored. We could have scored 8 but pessimists will always focus on what might have gone wrong at the other end. Not much mention of the penalty we could have had when Sonny Carey got taken out in the box as he was about to shoot.

They didn’t score. We did.

The Bromley game was a challenge a long way from home against a determined national league outfit. We attacked first half. Lavery and Dembele were great as well as others and the win boosts morale going into the league.

We defended mostly in the second half, the pace of the game dropped, no one wants to get injured away in the cup on Astro. They’ve got other games to consider. But- even Beesley almost scored a tap in after a parried shot from Sonny.

We won the game and we’re through to the next round. Much needed money for our club. More experience for our less experienced players.

As a fan of Blackpool football club, it is enough for me. Mission complete, in my opinion.
